Bruh all you had to do was to evolve a Butterfree to level 12 for Confusion and rek Brock's beta ass. Then by the time you reached Cerulean ur Bulbasaur would stomp those little starfish.

My parents got me pokemon yellow when I was a kid, so I got pikachu by default. The game wouldn't even let you evolve it into a raichu, either. Used to have to catch and train a pidgey in order to beat Brock's rock pokemon. Sad!

Everyone is so short sighted tho. The first two gyms don’t really matter because you can find other chinpokomon to circumvent those type weaknesses. Like others have said butterfree and pikadouche work wonders. Pika was kind of a pain in the azz to find tho

Not playing Yellow instead and using Alphachu. Bonus on not catching an early Mankey and having to use a pidgeotto/butterfree against Brock. And this is before you realize that butterfree ****s on brock when it learns confusion.

Bulbasaur is the best early-game starter and Squirtle is the best late-game starter. Charmander isn't the best at any point in time. Venasaur is by far the most underrated and also gets a hidden boost by the flaw in Gen 1: since Special Attack and Special Defense are grouped into just "Special" in Gen 1, the fact that Venasaur has the highest base Special out of the three means that he actually has both the highest Special Attack AND Special Defense.

Charizard is a true pleb choice. Most overrated Pokemon ever.
