Is anybody here adopted?

Just curious.

What is it like? Do you know your real parents? Have you met them yet?
We’re all gonna make it.

Adopted crew checking in.

Yes, I knew my biological parents when I was young (both dead). The best thing about being adopted is that you get a fancy new name and an a.k.a to disclose when filling out security clearance background paperwork.

Yes OP sorry to inform you but you're actually adopted. I'm your real dad. That's why your only half a inch taller then me 10 lbs less and have about 350m bodypoints because you're a Chad.

Yes, but I don't know or have never met most of them. I was adopted with one sister, but we ended up in different places after a few years. I still keep in touch with her, though.

Are you planning to meet them one day? Do you know their names?

As far as I know there were 2 boys and 4 girls including me. I've talked to all of them except one sister who vanished into the ether. I never knew them when I was young, though, so I didn't end up staying in contact with any of them except the one who I mentioned earlier.

In 2000 I got a woman pregnant, she had the baby two weeks early because she did coke and it induced labor. Hospital staff found the drugs in her blood, involved the state, baby taken from the mom and adopted out. She never listed me on the birth certificate, didn't tell me about him til I saw her again in 2006. Been looking for him ever since, no progress made whatsoever because I'm not on the birth certificate and the mother is worthless.

If anyone knows how I can at least find out if he's alive please let me know. This is in California, he'll be 18 in a few months. Is there a way I can make it so he can find me?

Semi-related dear diary:

I have a sister who seems like a normal person, but has lived a ridiculous life at times. When she had her SECOND child by some random dude, this dude's grandma wanted the baby. So she just gave him up, no problem. Now her first child is 16 and lives with her, but has no idea he has a half-brother living within 20-30 miles. The second child must be 13-14 by now. I have never heard her mention the second child at all after he was gone. She went on to get married, have twins, and divorce. They live with their dad but are still involved in her's and the first child's life. The first child also doesn't know that his own dad lives in the same area. He's a legit loser, so I'm not sure meeting him would be any use. But he must want to know who it is.

They did buy a ton of children's books with names like, "The Chosen Baby" or "I Wished For You" and always read them to us, LOL. They were really cheesy and I remember thinking even as a child "This really isn't a big deal, why are we doing this?

Neither my brother nor I struggled with being adopted, at all. Our parents are incredibly kind, loving people, still very much in love. He's in med school now and I'm doing just fine.

My real parents are the ones who raised me. Most children of adoption find the phrase 'real parents' not quite offensive, but not appropriate. So I take it you mean my birth parents, and no I don't know them, but I know who they are, if that's what you mean. It was a closed and sealed adoption so I had to do a ton of research, including an Ancestry DNA test to find anyone.

I never spoke to my birth father, though I found his FB a long time ago. He's remarried and I have a half sister.

My birth mother died about a month ago. We exchanged a few letters and texts here and there but she was incredibly troubled and suffered from debilitating mental illness. I also have a half sister and a half brother on that side.

I did get to meet my bio cousin a few weeks ago, that was cool!

No, one is dead, the other I have no plans to do so.
Oh yeah I remember your thread. My bad I meant biological parents and sorry about your birth mom. It’s cool to hear your perspective with everything you’ve been through.
We’re all gonna make it.

Been in the process of adopting my boy since he was 8 mo's old. He's 3 now. **** takes forever. We still kick it with his bio mom (she's homeless) every few weeks, but he has no idea she's his mom. She just wants to see that he's doing good and I don't mind meeting her at the zoo or whatever on occasion. My big fear is that she'll disappear and my kid will grow up and wonder where she is or blame me for losing contact with her.

I like the idea, as someone above said, of just being open about the adoption and not making a huge deal about. My boy is my boy as sure as if we shared the same blood. He's mini-me in every way and more like me than any of my blood relatives lol.

I have an adopted son. He's a blast, but there are definitely issues. We tried to adopt him and his brother, but we honestly could not handle his brother. We stay in contact with the brother and move forward doing the best we can.

I am really proud of my son. If anyone is thinking about it. He came to us a really angry little boy that just smashed everything. Now he cares for all the animals, made an elite gymnastics team, participates in Scouts. He's just a great kid to be around.

We definitely wonder if we are going to see any 'acting out' issues later in life, but hopefully not.

I have two adopted brothers. both special needs. one never really knew his mom, she is special needs herself. he has a brother who isn't special but they have not met. his family doesnt seem to want to meet him.He is very loved by our family and extended family though.

my other adopted brother was raised by his parents as a baby. the entire reason he is adopted is because his dad beat him and now he needs constant care. he was born perfectly healthy. his dad is not in jail, and his mother is still with that POS. They lost rights to him but requested visitation. by then he was already fully adopted. we all agreed(I help my parents take care of him so I had a say) that they would not be able to see him under any circumstances. some people might not agree with that. oh well
