he used to be one of the GOATS (still is, i guess)

em has some serious technical ability as a rapper. but his lyricism has gotten worse over the years. he should have retired in like 2010-2013 after working on those songs with Rihanna.

i'd say he's over-appreciated, but not really "overrated" since he's still better than 90% of these mumble rappers. he has too many yes-men surrounding him that will tell him his wack beats/lyrics are actually good. the dude needs to start working with dr.dre again lol, put him back in his place as an artist (instead of some weird political rapper that starts beef with kids half his age)

i wouldn't say overrated but most of his fans are terrible or don't listen to anyone other than eminem.

he's one of the GOATs and arguably the greatest rapper alive but like i said his fanbase is toxic.

People hate because he's still relevant. Think about it, if Eminem somehow died after the SSLP, MMLP and Eminem Show, he would no doubt be up there with Biggie and Tupac. Lets be real, the only reason those two guys are regarded as some of the best is because they died in their prime. If they were still alive people would be saying the same chit about them. Is Eminem as good as he was 15yrs ago? Hell no, but he's still one of the GOAT rappers

This is the same argument as who is the goat in football or basketball. You have to define the criteria for goat to make any progress in this discussion.

For lyricists, you can't forget about guys like Taleb khwali, MO's def, method/ redman, Tupac, Biggie.

Are we talking about most successful in dollars earned? Ok, now we introduce Lil wayne, birdman, Dre, etc.

See where I'm going with this? Eminem in my opinion is still delivering the best all around package, has technical ability second to none, and make the ish look easy. He still gets my vote

I actually think old eminem is overrated. Went back and listened to slim shady lp, and marshall mathers lp. Think there were 2 songs on each

He was creative as hell though. Many people probably followed him after but even stan was creative as hell. Not only story telling but rhyming the whole way. Guilty conscious is another creative song

He was honestly weird as fuk in the beginning

Really that's how some of his songs on his new album are like as well.

I mean sh!t go listen to the Venom track. Most of it is just him rambling and rhyming about nothing. I'm an Em fan and still think he's one of the best lyricsists but i'm also a realist.
