As a man, if you never have children, are you considered a failure ?

31 yr old boyo here, of course most of my mates are married with kids. My older friend almost lays into me how I’m wasting time, all the good ones are gone, gonna end up having to settle for a divorcée or woman with kids, etc.

He’s one of those guys that believes we are meant to have kids to “leave a legacy” as if we somehow are conscious of our offspring’s achievements once we die. I used to shrug him off but I think he’s getting into the my head lately since most of the dates I’ve been going on are with the lower quality women. Should I off myself ?

I’ve never had children. Why would I want to take a chance on having a boy who ends up with a small dick like mine?
Also being a 5’8” manlet sucks in itself . Best thing to do is not to procreate . Might save some poor child a life of misery

Agreed. I think most people just don't have any real goals or can't accomolish anything else so they say I'm a proud father/mother of boy/girl. I live in nyc and i see projects filled with families with 4 plus kids. I think they were better off not having kids or at least just one to give it a chance in life especially if they worked as a family unit afyer the kid was born.

You aren't Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Einstein, or whatever person you think is special. I hate when people use that argment to have kids. Your legacy (almost everyone's) is that of an average person who wil almost certainly have average children.

Don't have kids if u don't want them, my wife and I aren't. But it has absolutely nothing to do with "legacy" or whatever other social construct someone says we are disobeying.

If u want kids have them, if not, dont.

Nobody said it's a massive legacy, but

1) Genetically "you" still exist through your offspring

2) You permanently shape your offspring and theirs. My grandfathers are dead but influenced and shaped me in to the man I am. I remember them. The lessons I teach my children will be their legacy. Nobody remembers some dude who just died alone with no family

I'm 5'7" and while that sucks I just focus on other things and don't let it distract me from living my life. You should talk to a therapist or something for depression bruh.

This is ridiculous, are u saying the only real impact you can have on another life is that of your own kids?

What about volunteering and helping others? Dedicating your life, or at least your spare time, to helping less fortunate people? You will almost certainly be remembered as a great man for helping complete strangers, than you would for helping your own kid like you're supposed to do.

And furthermore, I'll be dead, i won't know if people praise me or curse me in death, and I won't care at all. Its no different than being cremated instead of buried. Burn me and spread my ashes in the ocean, I'm dead who cares.

If we're going to judge you on your ability to have offspring - only men who produce successful contributing members to society are successful, then, anyone can have a kid and dump a woman; hell I guess rapists who impregnate woman are heroes by this standard of success.

your genes are pretty insignificant in regards to perpetuation of humanities existence.. fraction of nothingness in cold empty space.

one could argue you're less fulfilled never experiencing paternal love toward a child I guess. if you have/had loving parents you've experienced love in it's purest form already. the perspective changes when you become the parent but the love is all the same..
a series of short tasks over a relatively longer period of time is life. altruistic light moves under the cover of your own darkness.. find this inner torch bearer and accompany them to the end. we all walk together, but we all walk alone. there is no understanding or purpose beyond that
