Most people who have to wear suits to work are lower to lower middle class income

Exceptions to this such as investment bankers, lawyers, etc. It seems like the majority of people who dress up in suits daily are trapped in that 30k-75k wage. <30k you will either wear whatever you want of some goofy uniform to match the rest of your retail/food services colleagues, and >75K you are most likely wearing whatever the fuk you want in the office or working from home.

The suit wearers would like to project the image of success, but we know they are spinning on hamster wheel harder than anyone.

Some people in my building look at me confused and wonder how I'm able to wear jeans/hoodies/tshirts/sneakers daily while their sorry ass is dressed in a full suit but making half of what I do. When you have balls/confidence and produce results then you can do whatever you want (my experience). Most people just don't understand how someone could refuse to fall in line like all the robots and still manage to "make it".

I think people who challenge the status quo are the ones who make it higher in life.

I disagree, I would say it is a quality observation. Many people who wear suits are trapped in that mid range purgatory but are trying to convey the image of success, whereas many who have achieved success beyond that level do not have to wear suits nor try hard to convey it by over dressing in business attire everywhere they go. LOL at the fake it till you make it squad.

If you're a lawyer. If you're in inside sales, technology, engineering, etc you will NOT be wearing a suit despite making $$$. Those of us living that life LOL at the plebs with their suits and corporate nooses trying to look successful.

This. In my building there is probably around 1000 people earning 150-300k and 0 suits to be seen. LMAO

Furthermore, carrying a briefcase takes it another step further. More than likely all they keep in it are their luncheon sandwiches and an apple.

Yah attorneys at big law firms start @ $250 base here in the city theyre pretty much mandatory to suit up. Sales I'll grant you can make a lot of money in a niche while dressed like a pussy but you will pretty much never see directors at decent tech companies walking around not at least business casual. Actual contributing engineers don't really make ****

Exactly. The only time I see this as the acceptable daily outfit is if you're a lawyer. Most people rocking suits daily are not, but just want to seem like high rollers. LOL at trying that hard to convince people you are successful and important.

Having been in tech for a while I have to say it's rare to see even C suites in suits outside of Galas and events like that. Even at big conferences and TV appearances they are likely to be in designer sneakers, jeans and a blazer with a tee underneath.

Exactly, literally 0 desire to have to suit up daily, and even in situations where I do (like a wedding) it is 2018, so LOL at wearing a tie.

And thats how it should be. If you are a customer facing professional on a meeting then that is one thing, but if employer expected you to always suit up around the office as well away from clients - LMAO. Seems right boyo

Yes, but how often are they in the office? Also, I think that could be a cultural thing...when I was at A&M, the Ag engineers wore jeans and Carhartt, EE and ME jeans and polos, CS/CE was button up and jeans, and Petroleum was minimum business casual. To class. It was sort of weird. And if you'd see those dudes out somewhere, they'd be in slacks and a nice shirt, even at seedy bars. Then again, those guys were getting six-figure job offers in Qatar upon graduation, so more power to them.
