Never knew the story of Lamborghini

He started out as a tractor maker. He was taken prisoner during WW2, and his first wife died in childbirth. Dude originally bought a luxury Ferrari car, and noticed the clutch was dogchit. He tried to notify Enzo Ferrari about the problems, but the arrogant kunt told him to fuk off. So, Lamborghini decided to enter the luxury car business OUT OF SPITE. He also realized he could repurpose his tractor components and sell them for much more as part of a luxury car. His first car, the 350 GT, was sold at a loss. What a beast.
“All my Ferraris had clutch problems. When you drove normally, everything was
fine. But when you were going hard, the clutch would slip under acceleration; it
just wasn't up to the job. I went to Maranello regularly to have a clutch
rebuilt or renewed, and every time, the car was taken away for several hours and
I was not allowed to watch them repairing it. The problem with the clutch was
never cured, so I decided to talk to Enzo Ferrari. I had to wait for him a very
long time. 'Ferrari, your cars are rubbish!' I complained. Il Commendatore was
furious. "Lamborghini, you may be able to drive a tractor but you will never be
able to handle a Ferrari Properly.' This was the point when I finally decided to
make a perfect car." - Ferruccio Lamborghini
Did Lamborghini still have any personal contact with Ferrari after the launch of
his own GT car in late 1963? "One day in Modena I was entering a restaurant when
I recognised Ferrari sitting at one of the tables. As I passed I tried to greet
him, but he turned his head away and pretended to be talking to the person next
to him. He was ignoring me!" Ferruccio grins. "I used to have contact with
Adolfo and Omer Orsi of Maserati, Renzo Rivolta of ISO, even Alejandro de
Tomaso. But Ferrari never spoke to me again. He was a great man, I admit, but it
was so very easy to upset him." - Ferrucio Lamborghini

Wow, that's pretty interesting. Didn't know that.
Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.

If I could only have one it would be a Ferrari. But then if you can afford to have either of these cars you can probably afford to have both.

I love Doug's videos on youtube. He really dials in to so much about the car, not just the fluff stuff. But yes, when you are driving a Countach, you are driving so many little boys dream car when they were growing up!!! LOL

Agreed. I would want to save my Ferrari for the track so I'd get the Lambo to tow it there

That's a bargain, but in my heart of hearts I'd know it wasn't new and I was living a lie.

It would have to be the new Aventador to be truly making it in 2019 by misc standards/irl standards

While Lamborghini's are nice, my next car will probably be a 488 GTB Spider!

Have always liked the lambos, more so the older ones. They have a sense if not giving a fuk about them that ferraris dont have. Ferraris are for ocd freaks that can't stand a single tbing out of place i. e. a super fun person to be around. While a lambo is that retard hyper active kid that disrupts the whole class.

So basically Enzo told him "more than you can afford, pal, Ferrari" and then Ferruccio built a car to smoke him.

To fix the clutch issue and avoid having to go to Ferrari all the time, Ferruccio started retro-fitting tractor clutches into his Ferraris since they'd last longer, which triggered Enzo.

Check out his granddaughter:
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

I never knew the story until I traveled around Bologna and Modena earlier this year - the history of it all is fascinating.

But having grown up in neighborhoods where neighbors tended to own an offering of either Lamborghini or Ferrari, I have to say that Lambo always had me since I was a kid. I had a soft spot for the 360 Modena, but honestly...I'll never forget my neighbor revving his Countach when I was a kid and his German Shepherd going berserk around the neighborhood to the sound lol.

Ahh, that's really the value (for me) of these cars. Memories, dreams. And Podunks is right - some can be had fairly cheaply, around the 80k range if you go used.

30 years ago, there was two choices: Ferrari & lamborghini

Now there are so many supercar options that I love seeing on the road however Lamborghini still always manages to stand out

A lot of the older European luxury companies have histories that are interesting as fuk. Hermes and Louis Vuitton predate Ferrari/Lamborghini by 100+ years

Gallardo is the most bland looking Lambo, The Huracan is no better. maybe it's because I've never seen one up close in person. Would rather go Lamborghini Diablo

Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, Reventon, and Aventador are the best looking Lamborghinis. They speak Lamborghini
