Was Ted Bundy born that way?

Or did a really messed up series of events make him develop the skills to be:

Charming
Convincing
Worry free
Completely confident
Detached from his emotions
Able to manipulate who he wants when he wants

Ive never known any serial killer who represents himself exactly how Misc deems as alpha

Pretty sure he was raised in an incestuous family where his dad was his granddad and he was raised thinking his real mom was his sister or some chit. He also had some sort of breakdown where his fiance left him (probably slooted lol), and that seemed to have been the turning point for him. Apparently he was bullied a lot as a kid due to his speech impediment, and he was a very angry kid. He took out his anger on animals and enjoyed hunting and trapping animals and scaring people.

I believe some humans are born with a potential propensity toward this type of behavior. These are people with psychopathic tendencies. My understanding is that the original idea that psychopaths have no empathy was shown to be somewhat false. It was more that they were really good at shutting off their empathy if angry or afraid. If a psychopathic child is exposed to especially traumatic stimuli growing up, it makes them more likely to become like this. There is also some chit with sexual development and associating violence with sex. People like Ted Bundy are especially weird because they are sexual sadists.

He was a narcissist who would have been caught much earlier if he tried that stuff now with all of the tech. His early life shaped him some, but I believe it just stirs something that was already dormant. I think counseling and therapy could have definitely impacted him positively. I think he developed his charming personality as a way to mask his insecurity from his strange childhood. First and foremost he was a narcissist, mixed with his lack of empathy and general psychotic behaviors, he wasn’t all that “special”. He was smart as well. He was going to kill until he got caught.

I think Kemper is much more interesting from a psychological standpoint. Even police during his interviews figured out Bundy was slinging bull**** to feed his own ego.

To answer the broader question, I think it’s 20% nature/born like that and 80% nurture

It was the perfect storm. Genetic potential and circumstances led to him being what he was.

I dont know much about the case and I just watched the movie but someone help me out; the guy never admitted to any of the killings, and was not actually proven to have done them??? Maybe I wasnt paying attention in the movie or it was made poorly, but where exactly was the evidence that he had killed any of them? someone help, I thought the onus was on the prosecutor to PROVE guilt under the assumption that everyone is innocent until then

I talked to a local old timer who claims to have seen Bundy dumping female clothing near tiger mountain about 15 minutes away from Lake Sammamish where Bundy was picking people off. He called the cops, but obviously Ted didn't get caught until later. Old timer said he thought for sure it was the serial killer, but wasn't about to approach lol. Cool story, huh?

Well, if you're born lacking the ability to feel empathy or a conscience, I'd imagine its pretty easy to worry free, confident and detached since you're incapable of processing life any other way.

Being manipulative and charming is easy, just spend time thinking about what motivates other people and feign interest.

They had enough evidence to convict him of the Florida murders. I believe 4 states basically worked together to see which has the most evidence to actually nail a conviction. He admitted to some while on death row and basically used it to extend his life as a bargaining chip.

That’s the simple version.

If you’ve seen the movie, Netflix has a 4 part documentary on it too. Ive seen a bunch before that, but for 1 source, the Netflix thing is probably the best

I don't think he was born that way at all. I think he was a product of his environment just like the rest of us. If my memory serves me, he also blamed his porn addiction for his extreme behavior. Like a drug addict, he constantly needed more disgusting material to get off. And although I'm sure you porn lovers may disagree, it doesn't seem that far fetched tbh.

I think that someone who thinks what he did was terrible, and absolute disgusting, could themselves become just like him with the right things happening in their lives.

People throw around words like "insane", as if he was actually insane. It's not a word I would use. I would say he was just different than the average person.

A "normal" person, could rationalise themselves into becoming just like him, but it would be very difficult, due to years of programming to not be like that, essentially.

There will always be some spastic wide eye'd kid that will idolise someone like this though, so I hate to give these people any attention at all

I think some people may be slightly more predisposed to mental issues, but it's usually their circumstances that lead to those sort of extremes. Exposure to sexual/physical abuse, domineering parents, humiliation at a young age, etc.

Interesting. Possibly if he didn't experience this trauma he'd just be one of those cold-hearted CEOs who can fire like 800 people without feeling anything or dump chit into the water supply for a quick buck without a second thought.

Apparently there are some CEOs like this and they rose up to become CEOs because of how utterly ruthless and detached they are. I read a book recently that speculated that Al Dunlap was like this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_J._Dunlap

As even his Wiki says, he freely admitted to having psychopathic traits but considered them to be positive business/leadership traits. He has talked about, for instance, how he really, really enjoyed firing people.

Perhaps if he experienced the same trauma Ted Bundy did he'd be a Ted Bundy...

I "peeked" at one comment only ... Sociopaths are born this way...They are hardwired to be psychologically manipulative and cunning (meaning, they can "act" charming), while not having an inherit ability to feel empathy or remorse. This makes them very able and willing to hurt and kill others, no matter their "upbringing." Some criminologists have argued these nurture theories; these pathological sociopaths had an abnormal and horrific childhood experience(s), which led to emotional maladjustment... Whereas others believe they had "faulty" prefrontal cortex biochemical wiring from birth, and then certain environmental or situational factors served as "precursor" to their deviant behavior... IMO, I believe the nature theories...

I wonder how many everyday "normal" psychopaths (percentage-wise) walk around...cause I'm tired of dealing with them!!!!!
Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.

The accurate answer to this would probably terrify you. I had a coworker at my job, nicest guy. I talked to him daily and he seemed normal as can be. One day tactical teams come into work and escort him out. Turns out he was a massive child pornography felon, including very inappropriate videos of his young grand daughter. Made me absolutely sick.
