If a man wants to be rich then, it's best not to fall into one of those money pits. Obviously if this is not the goal, then go on and get a dog

what??! lol

You can leave your dog at home for 8 hours and its fine. You can not leave a child alone for 5 minutes.
A doggo is cheaper to maintain. A baby is costly af! (no hate on babys tho)

Do you even doggo?

I'm sure there are plenty benefits to having one. I've wanted one for a while.

But it's demanding. For work, I'm not at home from 8:30AM - 5:30 PM. Adding the time it takes me to get ready in the morning and cook dinner, exercise in the afternoon, that makes me unavailable from 7:00AM - 7:00PM.

Where am I supposed to get the time to look after the dog? I don't have anyone to look after it when I'm not there.

And to top it off, I live in NYC, where 90% of living places do not permit dogs.

Well I personally know the pain of having a dog in a big city but you can always get a small/tiny doggo and they dont require too much space and excercise like a big doggo.

I have a nice backyard, plenty of time and love dogs. so much.

But no dog.

Putting down my last girl, i had for her whole life since she was a pup (belgian malinois), was the hardest thing i've probably ever had to do. I was maybe 12-14 when we got her. In fact, we loved her so much but my Mom/stepdad at the time didn't want to get her even though they loved her too. Lots of $, we already had one etc. I was like....i'll buy it then. I had enough money for some reason and i bought her. My gurl.

too hard man i cant do that again, not for the time being anyway. one day..

I would love one, but it wouldn't be fair on doggo. Me and gf's work schedule would mean it would be home alone for too long throughout day

Please keep posting pics of your doggos in hereI want to start looking at breeds that are cute/aesthetic/size i like.... crap this is how it all starts...but it would be so good for me..

Ilovebelgian malinois. but they do bark, a lot. Not only do i want to be 'that neighbor' (we have a very good neighborhood i've noticed, not a single one has a yappy dog that they dont quickly shut up or whatever. Malinois' are so protective they'll bark at any person they see through the window or knocks on the door or whatever.

But i think someone around the Malinois size, full grown, is great. Those siberian huskies are so cute/handsome.. especially the all white ones i think, those eyes..

I love dogs, but they are too much responsibility if you like traveling, biking, etc....it's like having a child almost. Also, I could not imagine getting a puppy, raising him, connecting with him, loving him, only to have him die 15 years later crushing my soul lol

I really like to travel and for more extended periods of time (been gone for a month right now, different country. well 3 weeks so far but go back home in a week). since my 'work' allows me to travel as i please wherever as long as there's internet. Been to 4 different countries in 2019 alone ha.

Only thing is i can probably convince my brother/sister in law to watch it, if it gets along with quite small awesome doggo, or my Mom since they both live within like 20min of me. If i could get that to work when im gone.....i might have to start looking srs. i think it'd be really good for me especially in my situation

One of the best things about living on the farm is that I get to hang out with my dog pretty much all day. Some days I'll take down the 20 gauge and just head into the woods with Chap. He scares them up and I shoot'em down. On the way I'll usually scrape up some forest mushrooms or wild greens. Hunter's stew for dinner. High in protein, low fat.

I respect the people ITT that work a whole lot and realize the dog wouldn't get attention or go outside for way too long. It sucks, but that's life. However if you can, like I can, i really think I should get one now. This thread triggered me..
