A $56 million lawsuit filed Thursday alleges that the University of Utah failed to protect a student who was killed by an ex-boyfriend she hadcomplained about to police more than 20 times.

Lauren McCluskey was a 21-year-old track athlete from Pullman, Washington. Her mother said any money from the lawsuit would go to the Lauren McCluskey Foundation, which honors her daugther's legacy and student athletes.

The suspect, Melvin Rowland, 37, was a convicted sex offender who had spent more than a decade in prison. He had continually harassed Lauren McCluskey after she ended their short relationship. Rowland killed himself hours later after a police chase.

How the hell can they be so negligent as to not follow up on a convicted sex offender after she complained 20 times?

inb4 misc blames her for dating a sex offender. She probably had no idea and ended it as soon as she found out, hence "short relationship". And of course that incel would harass her over it.

lol @ $56 million lawsuit against the school. How is the school at fault? First of all, she willfully dated the guy. And second, if anything, the parents should have directed the lawsuit towards the police since they were the ones that failed to do anything after she called them 20 times. Sickening how greedy her parents are for trying to make money from her death, I hope they don't win anything.
