Just lost my job :l
"The company's moving in a different direction and you're not in that image, etc." The store manager allowed me their personal reference and no ill-will which is good. I'm not even mad, but in the meantime will turn in one or two applications a day and will start making tons of phone calls. Kinda wish like it was a few years ago where I could literally walk door to door and say hi, but everything's done online now so that method doesn't work anymore.
Any advise or insights on the written above misc? Essentially what I can do is any entry-level position since I'm a high school grad. Have cashier, shelf stocking, and labor experience. I have no real preference for any particular job, don't even mind working at a Walmart as long as the store itself is not tilted with inner-store politics, but I want nothing to do with money or medicine. Thanks for reading.

As a University educated miscer, I suggest going to trade school or becoming an apprentice if you aren't currently engaged in any academic endeavors. Obtaining on the job training and then translating that into certifications/leadership roles that command a hire rate of pay should be a large consideration factor for your future. Sales is also a great path, but it can be difficult to enter the "right" type of sales role based on the situation you described.
Keep researching roles that are becoming more and more popular based on technology as well if on the job training/trades don't seem very appealing.

I was making around 20/hr in college (with the fuel calculation taken out of that number) delivering pizzas. It was actually a fun job where time flies and you dont even have to be nice to the people you are delivering to like a server because they already have the tip ready.

If you haven't already, get a LinkedIn profile and start networking on there. There are tons of recruiters on there as well that can assist, along with job opportunities.
Also, one mistake people make when they lose a job is that they don't network with friends or family out of embarrassment of losing a job. Gotta get over that and network with these people since they will be the people who will help you the most.
Unfortunately, submitting your resume online, a cold submission, is really difficult because your resume basically gets lost in the shuffle and most likely does not stand out among the large number of applicants. Still need to do it, but this is why networking helps, because you can get your face out there and speak with someone directly. You don't necessarily need interviews either. Try setting up coffee/lunch meetings and pick people's brains, see if they have any opportunities for you or if they know someone who can help. Try not to leave these meetings without a name or a new lead.

Basically it talks about having a resume tailored to the job ypu want, pretty basic stuff and should be simple for your needs. Also a cover letter. Just another page on your resume that actually says why you are excited about the position.
Sounds like a bit of work but it will put your stuff on top of the stack instead in the mountain with all the others. This guys method works, I have used it a number of times with success.

Wouldn't mind being a clerk at a crappy liquor store if that's what's available during this next chapter of my life. I'm not picky. My only criteria is no dead-end minimum wage entry-level positions. Go on the IBEW's website and search for the local in your area. All unions (i.e. pipefitters, electrical, teamsters, etc.) have locals. You need to get out of retail bro that chit is for the birds. Tradie here, if you have labor experience then thats already a foot in the door to industry. Save some money up and look for a pre employment certificate. After that then become an apprentice and get indentured so they can pay for the remaining school. Good luck op, also check with your local government office-- they might have some booklets on resume and cover letter tips.

- Second, what is your location? You are 22 so are you going to college? Need details on living situation.
- Third, like other posters said, getting into a trade and networking on LinkedIn are great options.
- Sites like Udemy where you can learn programming or what ever else interests you are fantastic resources and it will help get your foot in the door to a job that you can actually advance in.
