IT bros who make over 100k a year.

What exactly do you all do in It that makes 100k or over a year? I see so many people here claiming even 150k plus a year. Iโ€™m in IT and barely make 50k a year. What are yall doing that makes so much?

I have one buddy who is ~150k in Phoenix, he's into DevOps, another who is ~400k in NYC, works for Google as a programmer. I'm right at 100k, and I do a ton of crap, but mostly just manage pretty much everything and do programming as needed.

My cousin is a consultant for the biggest It company in my town and only pulls 90k a year. Maybe itโ€™s location? Even when I looked at other locations salary it wasnโ€™t much higher than mine.

These threads are always guaranteed to bring the worst *******s out. OP 99% of the people here are on the internet and FULL OF CHIT. Statistics don't support more than maybe 1/20 posters itt making over 100k.

This graph shows that MIRACULOUSLY over 80% of misc posters are in the top 5% of earners in the country for their ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD. Just lmfaoooo simple math doesn't support it so don't believe most of these clowns.

IT doubters have no clue. Even the ****ty engineers at my company make $100k. $150k for 'pretty good'. $180+ for the best. I should know they all report to me in my org and there are 70+ of them. I still struggle sometimes to retain talent because other companies will poach a $150k engineer and pay them even more. This is in Salt Lake City area.

Now if you're IT 'helpdesk' (the guy who asks if you tried restarting yet) - yeah $50k is what you get. But once you start doing some real programming it skyrockets.

Sr. Systems Engineer with 20 years experience.

I could probably be making 200k+ if I worked in silicon valley.

Just keep expanding your certifications and become a SME of multiple platforms and you should be making over $100k in a few years.
