I've effectively read 3-4k books over the years, 30-40k hours of lectures, these are theBEST of the BEST(srs).

I'm going to do my best to organize them effectively, but I'm open to any and all suggestions.

WHY THESE BOOKS?

These books are the LIGHEST; I ****ing hate verbose books that don't say ****
These books are the MOST mental model packed; I ****ing hate books that give you ONLY 4-8 novel points over 300+ pages (most books)
These books are filled with THE best mental models; Most books give you old, stale, quasi useless mental models without context

Pick the subjects you like and pick the books you like, YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH ANY OF THEM.

ALL of them are either very light, very informative or have high levels of granular info that can get slightly long winded, but it's good to meditate on very very important/big concepts

What's a realistic timeframe to read them in?

2 years for everyone here, you're all go getters more than 98% of people
1 year for those that really want to scale their lives quickly
6 months for sickos .1% of people here (that truly want the best and NOW)
3 months for most advanced souls on planet and yes you can finish 111 books in 3 months, that's a book a day or about 3-4 hours of conscious reading per day

How do I get the most out of reading them?

1.Highlight, underline, bend pages of important pages
2.Take notes on a letter envelope, write the page number first, then summarize the idea, don't always go word for word (there are times tho, so do that too)
3.If you don't understand something (HUGE issue if you're just getting into science), instead of struggling to finish the page (science books again), tie the idea to osmething else and move on i.e atom=ball=world=planets=our 2 balls, therefore atoms=all aka balls=all, or quantum mechanics=odds=probabilities=sometimes things happen and sometimes they don't, schrodingers cat=dead and alive=both=duality=yin yang=possibility to have my cake and eat it too (whyy the **** else would you buy a cake?

Black Swan can be a bit verbose, but if you're just getting into reading, a great read.

Have not read it, but learning about the GOATs is always good, I just think bios tend to divulge info thats effectively irrelevant. I can tell you today I went to the park, so what?

For politics I'd recommend Haidt's book (adding to OP actually) The Righteous Mind, Strauss Howe and A World Beyond Politics. But Douglas Murray is a smart dude, so I'm sure the book has value.

So feel free to read em together for 5-10-15 minute intervals, for me it's a great way to get lots of reading done at once as most books I can't really focus more than that, sure some beast mode books I hit 30 mins, but then I'm kinda tapped on the subject matter. Start w what you feel is right and go from there!

Cringing a bit at these posts. The dude has a valid point about the type of books listed in the OP.

Without even going into the nonsense self-help books, consider just the science books for example. Most people reading books like Hawking's A Brief History of Time are the types that want to be wizards at things like the universe and physics, but when pressed to actually solve a problem of basic physics: say the trajectory of a shot projectile in free fall without drag (heaven forbid with drag), or a trivial problem from astronomy using trig......its crickets. Nothing at all. This is the problem you get into with lay expositions. How many people are reading popular books about Special Relativity without actually understanding it, or being able to solve problems in it? I'd wager countless.

Just going off the title Fibonnaci Rabbits, I can tell it's more of the same. I wish people in the general population would be more interested in mathematics beyond what you nearly always see in lay books out there- concepts like the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence in nature, etc....and I will add chaos theory, which I see you also coincidentally have listed. There is a lot more to mathematics besides these rather minor and obscure subjects....but no one seems to care much. A better book to learn the deductive process? Start with the Elements by Euclid, go back to the source. Instead of books titled "30 second Physics", "30 second Weather", or 50 Simple Tricks to learn Math/Physics or whatever, almost like out of a spam ad on the internet, it's better to go with actual textbooks in physics and math, if not formal education, to learn about the subjects. Just my two cents.

Don't know why people hate so much because they disagree. My style differs a bit from yours too. I prefer a more comprehensive view of topics which I tend to study in order to be able apply it to my particular living/profession where the context and deep detail is important.

I do also like to read great works of literature as well, not those **** viral novels where the author's name is the biggest on the cover. How I read depends on what the book is and what context it fits into for my life. History books (Caesar's commentaries, Arrian's Alexander's, Plutarch, etc.) I tend to read most words vs leadership/development books I tend to find the meat of the book and focus on that. Novels I leave for Audible while I drive or do work where my mind isn't occupied with other things.
