Portland City Commissioners Call for the Police to Stop Using Tear Gas

PORTLAND, Ore. – After nearly a week of protests in Portland’s downtown streets, city commissioners are calling on police to change their tactics and stop using tear gas.

Commissioners met Wednesday morning for their regular council meeting, and from the start they addressed the unrest in the city.

Commissioner Chloe Eudaly criticized the Portland Police Bureau's tactics.

“I am absolutely horrified with what I saw last night,” Commissioner Eudaly said. “It is sadistic to use tear gas in the middle of a public health crisis that’s attacking people’s respiratory system."
Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty also called on police to stop using tear gas.

“We are in the midst of a pandemic. We know that it causes respiratory distress,” said Commissioner Hardesty.

Portland is the one city I would expect this from, and also appreciate it Lmao. It’s their identity.

I love Portland (at least the Portland of ten - years ago before all the California’s ruined it)

Edit: I’ve been to Portland and it’s one of my favorite cities. Nothing but weirdos it’s cool. The dream of the 90s is alive in Portland. I’m sure it’s ver changing for the worst however.

Edit edit: watch Portlandia season 1 it was very much like that.
