I’m dreading waking up to closed gyms tomorrow....

I haven’t seen any official word, but there is a state wide mask policy being implemented in the morning, and I know places like bars will be **** down for sure. There was no specific mention of gyms, but man. I want to have hope, I just also want to be emotionally prepared for it.

Man, I should just accept it, but I just want them to be opened so bad.

one of them opened over here last week. so ****in sore. i'm so unfit now. the first 3 days were ****in pain...... endurance, strength, it's all went down like my previous warmup sets are now my working sets

i think it's gonna take me a month - six weeks to get back to where i was before including getting rid of my covid-fat

I have a 24 Hour fitness really close by that been chugging along like The Little Engine That Could.

I mean everywhere closing down but there's 24 Hour Fitness "chuggachugga chu chuggachugga TOOT TOOT!!!"

I'm thinking about going and joining but I hate them initiation fees and I've been getting adequate workouts without a commercial gym

Sorry OP. My gym is basically vacant all day. Crushing sessions with only a few guys there that are my gym friends as well.

Didn’t he already openly announce he expects it to look worse this week? I don’t think he’s expecting his mask policy to be effective for at least another week so I doubt you see another move in Texas before the end of the month.

If it keeps going up though you could see him lock down again start of August.

The governor gave his press conference yesterday announcing the masks and bars. Our gyms were shut down for like three months, and I let it get to me pretty bad. I mean, I know at least some of you guys can empathize with the emotional impact this has.

It really is part of us. The community, the routine, the development etc. I know we can get this stuff elsewhere, it just sucks though. How long have so many of of us being doing this one thing religiously on a daily basis?

I know I probably sound like a pussy right now, but I’m okay with that. I ****ing the love the gym.

Nah, I was sounding the same. I agree with everything you said.

Here in Texas we are required to wear mask, but everything else is still open. Will fall into a deep depression if gyms close down again srs. That's the only thing keeping me sane through all this chit.

At least the governments (state and federal) gave it a shot at reopening. I feel like it is out of our hands at this point (looking at the numbers). I’m glad they at least tried. You right man, it will be for the long term now.

I have my bike, with an indoor trainer for rainy days. I also jump rope for cardio, but without weights man, I feel like I am just going to lose too much weight. I got a pull-up bar, some resistance bands, and other small stuffs when the gyms closed last time. I just have to do the best I can with that. I know I can maintain general fitness, but strength and muscle will go away. But a huge part of the gym for me is the community too. The people and the environment. It isn’t just the weights for me. These home gyms bros are not fixing that part of it. I know I’m not the only one.

It isn’t really possible to build a home gym now with everything being sold. On principle alone I will not pay stupid ass prices to sleeze balls exploiting this chit. Can’t blame their hustle, but I’m not participating in it.

Don’t you give me hope. I’m pretty much right on the Texas border, I hope we just mimic you guys.

I’ll know in the morning. But even after that, it may come down to closing again. I don’t feel like there is going to be a time soon where we can say, okay so this is in our past now.

And just so I stay grounded, I sincerely appreciate the fact that the worst part of this for me so far is missing the gym. I know people have lost loved ones to this, so I’ll keep that in mind while I’m being a spoiled little brat.

I mean, if the media was focused on the daily death numbers and not the "tested positive" numbers, this would be over in a week. Really feel like stuff is being led now by 1) people who feel political incentive to keep it shut down and 2) people like Abbott in Texas who decided he needed to look proactive just to avoid the media crushing him. Really sad.

You're spot on about the community. When people lose their gym, their hobbies, their favorite local bars/diners, it's crushing. Weird to think, but I'm not sure we'll ever get back to concerts, live sports, etc again.

The media is just selling us all the click bait fear mongering bull**** and that part is almost as frustrating as community closings. Only difference is while frustrating, closing communities is being done for necessity, not views.

A friend of mine in the medical community in Houston told me the only reason the hospitals are being stressed now is because of the “idea” of the virus, and not because they need to go. They are not admissible, and there really isn’t anything they can do for these people. The media just scared the **** out of people, so just the knowledge of having the virus sends people to hospital unnecessarily.

And now, the media gets to report the hospitals are being overwhelmed with the virus, which isn’t necessarily a lie, but it is literally only because of the media in the first place propagating more click bait fear mongering.

Don’t get me wrong, we need to take this seriously, but man I hate the media. It is so much more day time drama than actual spread of information.

Cancelled my gym membership in April and bought a Olympic bar and four 45lb plates. It will pay for itself in about a year. I'm tired of playing cat and mouse with gym hours.

Seen a friend the other day that haven't seen for few months and he said I looked like I lost weight. Legit got depressed. I still don't understand how everything else in my state is open except gyms

Nothing pussy about it man. For many people the gym is a huge component to mental healthy, or a replacement for a harmful addiction/habit. Take that away and it can eat a person alive. My gym owner said fuk it and opened during lockdown, and I highly doubt he'd shutdown again. He just took the fines. His revenue for a day is much higher than the fines.
