Why aren't we cooling our homes with tap water?

I was just thinking this. It gets up to 95-100 degrees here regularly this summer and I was washing my hands indoors. The tap water comes out of the ground and isn't more than 72-75 degrees. And my AC unit which cost hundreds of dollars of electricity per month to run struggles to keep my place under 80 during the day. And we know water has a very high heat capacity, meaning it takes a lot of energy to change the temp of water.

So why the FUK aren't we cooling our homes with this? Imagine a long hose/pipe system that snaked all through your house that connects the tap faucet to the drain, so that by the time the water drains it's been heated up. Water heating up = home cooled down

Somebody take this idea to shark tank now

Why not cool our houses with milk think about it milk taken out of the fridge is super cold and it is technically free to make milk cold since that area of your fridge will be cold regardless

Idk man, it would take a lot of cubic feet of air to heat up a gallon of water by say a 5 degree temperature difference. One gallon of tap water is a fraction of a penny. So I don't think you would actually need that much of a flow.

Not talking about evaporative cooling, that wouldn't work here anyway the humidity is too high. The water would travel through the house in closed pipes/hoses

Your home already has a pipe system to bring water to each of your bathrooms/kitchen, and its under pressure to make the water flow up the walls. This wouldn't need pressure so it would be even less likely to leak

Water holds both heat and cold a lot. It'd do more harm than good if it began as hot. A common way to save refrigerator electricity is to fill it with water and ideally never remove. Takes a while to heat but holds cold well.

Tap water is not cold enough. Some buildings do use chilled water fan coils, but they have chillers that cool the water to 40 degrees EWT or so with about a 15 degree delta. 72 degree EWT wouldnt be at all effective.

You would need to be circulating the water all of thew time or the water would warm up to the temperature of the room. That would use a lot of electricity.

Having the water warm up to the temp of the room is exactly the goal. That means heat transferred from the room to the water. Then it needs to be drained and replaced with fresh cool water

Geothermal heating and cooling systems already exist.

And they are all need electricity to run. A self reliant system would be a geothermal heat pump that runs on solar, my dude.

They do. It’s called a swamp cooler. It’s not effective. My grandfather had one. On 100 degree days it’s 85 degrees indoors

Of course, water isn't compressible so it would fry your AC unit instantly if you loaded it with water instead of refrigerant
