What do you consider a strong squat? (POLL)

Yeah height, body fat levels etc play a role, example, a 6 foot 5 guy who weighs 400 lbs squatting 3 plates is not impressive as a fit, toned average height guy doing it etc

What squat weight do you think is considered strong or impressive?

4-5 plates. Up to 4 plates is pretty achievable, after that is very hard

This is if you are of normal lifter weight, not twink weight.

I think for misc and bodybuilder standards 4 plates is the correct answer. But for the average joe or average gym goer 3 plates is a lot
I remember doing 2 plates for reps once and some guy told me wow you got pretty strong legs

On the misc that would be nothing though

4-5 plates. 3 is pretty easily achievable, 4+ takes some doing unless you have God tier genetics.

I depends if its a solid non bro quarter squat, anything over 3 plates in a normal gym is pretty good.

whatever is less than my lifts. Then I’ll see a guy maxing out with 5 lbs less than my PB and think he’s weak as fuk
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

4 plates was actually like... stupid quick to reach. Think I got there in about 8 months from my first real squat training.

Getting past that was HARD. Took over a full year to hit 455 from there.

During this scamdemic I consider anyone who even has access to the gym to be strong
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

-I'd rather live life saying "I failed" than "I could have"

In your every day commercial gym, seeing people squatting 3+ is always impressive to me.

When I was last training at a commercial gym, I was doing reverse pyramid training while cutting - something that worked really well. My squats would be heavy, not till failure, 3 sets, 5-6-8 reps. Heaviest set first. My best I had achieved was 315 for 8-9 reps. Then I moved and built my own gym in my garage. Considering that fact that I hit 315x8 on 1600 calories a day, low carbs, at the ass end of my cut, I honestly think I could have hit max 350 while well-fed. There's no way in my mind that I would ever be able to hit 4 plates unless I bloatmaxed, which I am not willing to do. I'd rather be at a lower body fat and weight and do my sets of 250 or so for 12 reps. I'm even hitting less than 2 plates on the squat lately for slow-tempo sets of 15 till failure. A bit easier on the back too.

For most regular people, 3 plates is probably considered strong.

Strong for a casual lifter or every day joe? 3 Plates is impressive.
Strong for an enthusiast or gym rat? High 300s, or 4 plate is pretty cool.
Strong for someone who competes? 5 plate+ bay-beeee.

Anything above 315 is pretty strong to me. Strong is 4+ plates and anything after that I consider really strong. I doubt many people who don't compete hit 500+

Based on the fact you hit 315 for nearly 10 reps i'm willing to bet you had the strength (or very close to it) for 405 at the time. I know training for volume and maximal strength is different, but that's moving a lot of weight. I hit 4 plates a month ago and never really did more than 3 reps in the training leading up to it. My last workout before i just decided to go for it was 365 for three singles followed by a triple. I never did an amrap at 315 since i lift at home and don't have bumpers/rack but i doubt if i could've gotten that many at the time. in my warmups i would sometimes do a double at 315 and it was pretty easy but i don't know that i would have managed 6-7 more reps.
