*70k reps* check out my black raspberry harvest + crostata - SKYRIM inspired
I just want to preface this by reporting this is my first ever time trying to bake anything. I've eaten my share of cake and pies, but besides getting those betty crocker cake mixes and icing, I've never actually made anything from scratch.
I live in the mountains. We had a really good spring this year. That resulted in a really sizeable wild black raspberry harvest. I spent an hour harvesting these contemplating how I would use them. I decided to try baking a rustic crostata like in Skyrim (where you can make jazbay, snowberry, and juniper berry crostatas).
Took a couple of photos and wanted to share with everyone. Overall, wasn't that difficult. I just checked out some simple crostata recipes online and improvised a bit. I had 1 pound of berries to work with. It was pretty simple - whole wheat flour, a bit of butter and sugar, and that's pretty much it!

I guess I've never bothered baking because of my lifestyle. There's not much room for baking in a bodybuilding diet, and I'd just buy cakes at the store if I wanted a cheat meal. I think I'll experiment with baking a bit more, maybe try and create some more medieval influenced things. Overall, this crostata really wasn't that 'dirty' as the amount of butter/sugar was quite modest and it was made with 100% whole wheat flour. I'd love to try buckwheat flour in the future.
Anyone else here venture into baking?
in b4 dude i'm going to type this as sober as possible....

Looks delicious especially for a first attempt at baking, nice job and definitely keep it up. I don't enjoy baking that much but when it comes down to it it is very satisfying
How does the flavor of black raspberries differ from regular raspberries or blackberries?

I'm also looking at quite a sizeable wild gooseberry harvest for end of summer. I'm contemplating what to make with those. I brew beer and mead and have been for years, so I usually make a fruit mead. I have 4 going right now. But maybe I'll continue trying to bake every once in a while.Looks delicious especially for a first attempt at baking, nice job and definitely keep it up. I was also considering mixing berries, perhaps black raspberries with a really sweet fruit like blueberries to offset the tartness. I was also thinking of adding maple syrup or honey.Nice brah! I have a ton on my property and this has been the best year I’ve seen. I make a lot of jam jars. Pretty easy to do and I have jam for myself and others for a year

PB&C and it's offsprings like Hazelnut + Chocolate, are probably my favorite palate combinations.
Either way, would absolutely try. You know what's wild, I think that bolder flavor combinations actually have been proven to be what men gravitate toward due to the fact that we have less tastebuds. Doesn't mean tangy/sweet/tart flavors are unmanly, just that the brahs who prefer them likely have more tastebuds.
Means they're more likely to be able to become a sommolier or gourmet but don't quote me on that...
