Are white people the only people who willingly lie about their own history

to make themselves look worse?

Seriously its such a bizarre phenomenon. What is the point? is there some sort of weird sadistic fetish? It seems to have really picked up after 9/11 and especially during Obama.

One good example is Christopher Columbus. Almost everything i hear about him today is a disgusting vile lie that seems to be purposefully taken out of context with the insidious intent of villainizing white people as a whole.

History has always been written by the winner. That means that the victor will always paint themselves in a much more brilliant light. No matter how horrible the deeds done to bring about victory, the victor will always gently brush their atrocities under the carpet. Some amount of this is done to keep national pride stable, the rest is to foster increased sense of nationalism.

It's not a "White" people thing. It's happened almost anywhere there was any sort of bloody history.

In the last few months I have seen so many self-loathing Brits denouncing the past and being apologetic for stuff that happened hundreds of years ago. Yet at the same time they want us to celebrate and embrace other countries and cultures (each with blood on their hands too) - but you can't accept your own culture. Strong logic!
