How come people aren't talking about the long term damage from corona?

Even people talking about the death count rarely bring up the long term damage from survivors.

https://www.healthline.com/health-ne...e-in-their-20s
Severe cases of COVID-19 can cause lasting damage to the lungs that may necessitate surgery or even organ transplants.
While the majority of COVID-19 deaths have occurred in people who are older, fibrosis cases show that even young people who survive the disease can have lasting complications.
A 20-year-old COVID-19 survivor in Chicago had a lung transplant that was necessary to treat a condition now being called post-COVID fibrosis.
Although i guess its still too early to talk about "long term" maybe, right now everyone pretty much treats it as if there's only 2 outcomes if you get the virus

Are these long term issues caused by being hooked up to a ventilator?

Edit, yes, yes they are.

I'm pretty convinced that the "long term damage" actually comes from the treatment a lot of COVID patients are getting, as opposed to the virus itself. I don't care who you are-if you get put into an induced coma and hooked up to a ventilator, your ass is going to be PHUCKED UP for a while!

You are aware that you don't need to wait long term, so see if damage is long term, right? If your arm gets chopped off, you don't need to wait until 10 years from now to know if there will be long term damage.

If there is scarring in the lungs, it won't completely go away ever with the treatments we have now.

But feel free to dismiss anyone who doesn't agree with your exact view point.

every medical issue can have long term effects

theres always unique people, unique cases, and unique circumstances

The issue is what percentage. Should we be worried if .01% of corona virus patients have long term effects, and only 15% of people exposed have symptoms, and only 20% of the population is ever exposed to it? so like .00001% of the population has long term effects from corona virus?

You can twist things to try and make things scary and incite fear to gain attention in a new story, doesnt mean its relevant

can kind of confirm. Was on long-term ventilation (not related to covid) and my vocal chords were ****ED

However, nothing in that article that you posted indicated that intubation caused any of herlung damage. Everything in the article pointed to COVID as the main reason. The Dr. stated that it was "the worse he's ever seen", but not the norm.

Its typical paniccel bullchit

"post-COVID fibrosis" only occurs after ARDS for which the standard treatment is ventilation

Of course the lugenpresse don't give impartial facts, I was posting that article because the implication in the original was the 20 year old just magically developed fibrosis and didn't mention ventilation

Yeah, but speaking from experience, ventilation induced lung damage is very rare and most-likely not what caused the 20 year old's lung damage.

24% for non ARDS isn't exactly very rare, and the implication is ARDS patients have a higher rate.

Another coping mechanism paniccels use to further destroy the economy. At first it was that COVID kills so we need to shutdown, now it's COVID cause damages so we still need to continue shutdowns

True, but Ventilator-AssistedLung Inury is not the same as Ventilator-InducedLung Injury.

VALI is a more common term and only used when mechanical ventilation can't be directly tied to lung damage. Which is why it says
24 percent of people mechanically ventilated will develop VALI for reasons other than ALI or ARDS.[1] The incidence is probably higher among people who already have ALI/ARDS, but estimates vary widely.[1] The variable estimates reflect the difficulty in distinguishing VALI from progressive ALI/ARDS.[1]
Just a blanket term used to diagnose symptoms that aren't usually related to ARDS.

I don't really want to continue arguing about this because I know that ventilation can and does cause injury, just not to the the extent that you're thinking of.

I had Covid in March and was hospitalized for 3 days with severe pneumonia, just had a follow up CT scan on my lungs 4 days ago and they look great.

But now I am on blood thinners as I’ve had a blood clot in my leg That occurred randomly and they believe it’s Covid related.

Not sure if it will be permanent with the anticoagulants but I’m hoping not.

Anyways I think the Virus affects every person differently, some might have long term damage and others might have nothing at all.

This seems to be the latest large scale study on the incidence of VILI, significantly adjusting up the risk factor

Still not a chance I'd like to risk.

At the end of the day, if ventilation is required, you don't really have a say in the matter. You're either unresponsive or too weak to breathe on your own. It's a risk you'll inevitably have to take, regardless of the data.

the only reason they said it was covid related was because they didnt want to do additional work and just blamed it on the covid being lazy fuks.
