Stop leaving a plate on each side of the barbell

You guys that do this are only one step above the savages that leave everything on.

I understand that there is a false, unwritten rule that a single 45 is a "courtesy." It isn't.

One hand you have brahs like myself that like to warm up with a naked bar, but forget about people like me. There are people who will have trouble moving a 45lb plate and even some that cannot. Kinda fks with their routine if they cannot move it.

The true courtesy is leaving an empty bar for the next user.

In general I agree. For some lifts I begin my pyramid (warm up sets) below 135.

But who can’t move a 45lb plate? My pregnant girlfriend can easily load/deload them off the bar. A person would have to be pretty weak not to be able to do that.

Older women mainly. I’ve had to do it a bunch for them. Especially off the calf raise seat.

I usually just take them off and continue on. Doesn't affect me a bit, I'll take 4 off if I had to. People SHOULD take them off but people should do a lot of things. I just focus on what I need to do

Taking plates off the bar is the gym equivalent to putting your shopping cart away.

I empty the bar, but honestly if you can't take off a 45 lbs plate, you probably don't need to be messing with free weights anyway.

There is never a reason to take off the 45s unless:

1. There are women in your gym
2. Its cool to do curls in the squat rack
3. OP spaghetti arms and legs

I dont mind because warmup will never be less than 135 for any big barbell lift. Depends on the gym. If there's tons of twinks running around I'd take it off

In the gym i go to there are "preferred" bars and most of the time they are not by the rack or deadlift area so we are always shuffling the bars. Its not a big deal to take the plates off to move the bar but its inconvienient.

But people who leave 10lb on each side are lazy weak *******s who should be banned from the gym.

I only leave 45's on the leg press machine, that's it. For a barbell and everything else, I will take the weight off and strip it entirely. It's disrespectful to leave the weights on, and when someone tries to take it off and they can't, then that's on you. There was one time where I was just really into my workout, and I left like 500 pounds of plates on the calf raise machine and I wiped the machine down and walked away. Then like 2 minutes later I look back over and this girl was having trouble using the machine. I then realized I left the weight on, and then she realized that there was 500 pounds loaded onto it. She couldn't believe I was pushing that kind of weight and that's why she was confused. I felt bad and I stripped it for her, and asked her for a cup of coffee, which we got after the gym, then clapped cheeks. So actually, maybe just leave the weights on... not srs.

Yeah bollocks

I’ve trained at/with Dorian at Temple, Birmingham, and he won’t tolerate not putting weights away. So all you pf twinks can manage it as well, no one is awestruck by your 2 plate football squat

People who can’t strip the bar or machines shouldn’t be in the gym. If you can put the plates on you can take them off. I’m not your mom not my job to clean up after you.
