Crazy how student loans went from a summer job to 10 years of payments

Black pilled as **** LMAO. Schools are making an absolute killing. $1000 books that are outdated and replacrd in 2 semesters.

I'm looking to start University next year, gonna apply for every Scholarship and work part time. Luckily I have an associate degree so I should get a decent paying job.

If you're not fat or on psychiatric meds, just do ROTC. The national guard gives out scholarships to everyone and a lot of schools even give a housing stipend to cadets. Easy as fuk too. PT three times a week and take a mil sci class each semester...

I went to half a semester of college said fk that. Worked for a company starting at the bottom up to regional management position. Stacked $ the whole time. Lixury vehicle paid off, duramax truck on the way. 10 acres an a cabin bought. Redpilled ideology from learning all truths online and in the field managing people. No college leftist indoctrination and no DEBT.

easy solution is to get rid of all the liberal arts core classes undergrads are forced to take. lmao why would you make a kid going to school to study math/chem/eng take classes that were already covered in high-school; writing, art, history, sociology, etc. Forced to spend 42/120 credit hours on that chit. get rid of that and you just cut the cost of school by 35%

it's kinda true, undergrad curriculum is bloated as fuk

i'll never recommend going straight to a 4 year any more, there's basically no reason not to go juco for a gen ed AA and get all your transfer requirements done there. too much money to be saved

even that is an imperfect solution, transferring from a 2y CC to 4y degree puts you behind on all the major courses that have to be taken sequentially from the start, meaning its generally still going to take you 3 years to complete once you transfer. depending on the schools you might not even save much money. And depending on the person the opportunity cost from loosing 1 year of work in your field might end up being a net loss.

It's f'ing ridiculous. I have so many young co-workers that are in up to their eyeballs in student debt. When I hear them talk about how much their payments are I wince. I definitely do not want that for my son.

I disagree.

Here in florida atleast pretty much every major university has a CC next door thats basically made to be a direct pipeline into the University. So all credits transfer and you enter your college of choice as soon as you get there.(your AA degree is focused on what college you plan on entering) IE: College of business or college of engineering.

test scores and job placement have not improved at all

tuition rates have been rising even accounting for inflation

these universities are run like businesses, and the money goes everywhere except toward improving our education programs

Don’t know what school you went to but 4 years at a state college in Florida is $21,600 which is dirt cheap and can get paid with summer work.

I finished my first Bachelors while working as a bus boy/bartender and paid my tuition as I went. People are just ****ing lazy these days

same here, my local CC even has guaranteed transfer programs, they're itching to get kids over to the neighboring uni

A loan for a proper degree like in STEM is worth the financial burden but I always lol when someone bitches about student loans and they have a useless degree no better than a highschool subject. "But I have to get a degree no matter what it is! There's no other path!".

Get a proper degree in a field that's not over-saturated and stands the test of nearly any economy - like accounting etc - or choose another path of certificates/trades and getting early experience in your teens. The money you can make by the time you're in your early 20s will easily offset any sh*t degree you get while you wander around with zero experience.

every public school in georgia the credits transfer over 100%, i've heard out in cali and stuff you can have almost nothing transfer from school to school and basically be locked in to wherever you are unless you want to fall behind a significant amount. Or if you go to a private school same deal chances are close to 50% of credits won't transfer anywhere

heard schools in the north east are the worst about this tho not sure how true that is

That's completely wrong. CM grads get easily hired and get good field engineer/project engineer jobs IF the economy is doing well, which it may not be in shortly here.

That being said, I was in the CM field and luckily got a civil engineering degree and switched to a design job because the construction management hours are brutal and you get 0 dollars for any over time. OP if you're interested in that path, I would recommend a civil engineering degree because a CE can do CM but a CM cant do CE, so it give more flexibility.

1) Try to get state/county provided scholarships and grants (need-based if possible, academic based).

2) Try to get federal financial aid (FAFSA).

3) Try to get College/University provided scholarships/grants (need-based primarily).

If the above doesn't cut it, bare in mind you can also try to apply for new scholarships / grants while you're a current college student. My final year of college I randomly got a grant that applied for 2 Semesters, was like $1000-1500 per Semester if I recall.

Really helps to come from a family with low income, and to be a first-generation college student.

Beyond all of that, try to get a part time job on campus or near campus, particularly if it applies to your career to get some relevant experience if possible before graduation.

Other tips:

- Avoid racking up credit card debt
- Avoid car debt, perhaps just go without a vehicle if possible (I did this)
- Don't join a fraternity/sorority, chit is too expensive and time consuming (takes away from studies and from working a job)

I did some of the above and came out with $17k student loans by the time I graduated. Paid it off within 2 years, then paid off a new car a year later.

EDIT: The above was pursued by me for University all 4 years, I'd likely have saved $10k+ if I went to Community college the first 2 years (especially if I lived with my parents), bringing my loans way down.

yea thats why I left off the university of miami

I dont know of anyone that transferred there with an AA, and if they did, I doubt many credits would transfer over.
