Check out what I did to my front yard this weekend

About 1/3 the way done with the trench.

My arms hurt real bad today by the way. I did all this with a pickaxe and a flat shovel.

I mean, a really good friend of mine who I went to college with owns his own landscaping business and he told me just to swing away with a pickaxe. The worst part is digging the trench. I have to go about 73 feet total. 20 inches wide and 10 inches down. Unfortunately, I went about 24 inches down in the first little spot before I was told that I went too deep (common problem I have though), so now I'm just sticking to the 10 inch rule I'm hoping to finish up in the next few days.

Because I think having a sloped yard is peasantry. I am so effing tired of mowing on a slope. I didn't even GAF about maintaining my front yard this summer. So, I'm going to modernize my house a little bit by building the reatining wall and put in concrete steps going up to the front door. The roof is also getting redone this weekend to a blacker darker shingle. So, little by little I'm improving my home.

It's going to look EPIC when all said and done.

Probably because it looks nice and it gives home sense of exclusion from street and sidewalk. He is going to run it along the sidewalk as well, I think. He does have slope there so it makes sense.

Looks flat to me I guess I just can't tell from the pic. That dark shingle is gonna look good for sure.

While your projecting shape the scrubs up and get you some shutters. Will make it look a million times better

Well... yeah. Just about. I bought it from my parents. They wanted $510 for it, but I could only mortgage around $320. So, They decided to "gift" the remaining equity to me, to allow myself to renovate the crap out of it and then in a few years if I decide to sell I can pay them back. Gives me time to start making more money too in life. I can either sell in a few years or just buy the rest of it out from them. I'm still on the hook for the other $200k though, it wasnt necessarily a gift except in the eyes of the mortgage co.

Fukkn A man. Denver real estate is crazier than I thought. So let me get this straight. Your parents wanted $510k but you could only get approved for $320 so they let you have it for that with the expectation that when you sell you'll pay them the extra $200k?
