I am a fast runner, but at 6 foot going to bed height (yes, humble) and 200 pounds, I cannot get to a 20:00 5km. Maybe if I dropped 25 pounds, but I'd be twink mode.

20 minutes is a REALLY good time. I run a decent amount and that's a ridiculous benchmark for your "cringing".

No lifter is ever going to outrun a Twink dedicated to running. Just like a running Twink will never outlift a bodybuilder.

Sure, buddy.
Anyways, I do agree that most lifters are unfit. I always LOL at them walking on the treadmill incline.

However, I stand by my claim you will not see a 200 pound 6 footer (going to bed height) knocking out 20:00 5KMs on the weekend. I think I can get pretty close if I am all out, but there is no way I would risk injuring myself. If I were 175, yeah, I am sure I would nail it.

Even this guy can run 6 minute mile at 225
And I'm not watching that video because there is a big difference in running one mile @ 6 minutes versus maintaining that pace for 3.1 miles. If you actually lifted and/or ran you would know that.

I said if the twinks are running under 15, then the people 50lbs more should be able to run 5-6minutes behind them. It shouldn't take you twice as long by any means
For people for whom running is not a priority - a sub 20 minute 5k is a wet dream. Nobody just casually runs here and there and hits a 20 min 5k.
Your logic isn't sound dumbo. I might as well say "any runner who can't bench 315" is a joke. For serious lifters, 315 is nothing, but for people who don't lift, 315 is a wet dream.
So yeah, a 20 minute 5k might be nothing special in "the running world" - but we're not in the running world.

bro the average fit guy cannot run 100m in 13.25 or a 5k in 20 min because barely anyone trains for speed. Endurance & strength are way more important than speed for general fitness, speed only matters if it's a specific goal for you. I used to run 6-10 miles 3 times a week and I would basically have to kill myself for 20min 5k.

Anyway, I'm afraid to run now because it'll keep my bodyweight down, I feel like I'd be spinning my wheels trying to get stronger if I also run. In your experience, how much has running hampered hypertrophy?

20 min 5k is fast. At my peak running 8 years ago and 80lbs lighter I did an 18 min 5k and that was tough as ****, I was running 3-10 miles daily for practice

So tbh running with regularity has hampered my lower body lifting. I'm still fairly strong, but I've essentially stopped training my legs in the weight room. I'll do some squats here and there just to keep strength up, but don't train for growth. It's just too taxing to train legs heavy twice/week and also run 3 x/week. Maybe for a teenager, but in my 30s and now just turned 40, it's too much.
So I train my upper in the weight room, and my lower with running. It's what work s for me. I haven't found running to interfere with hypertrophy beyond direct overuse of the same muscle chains and lack of recovery time...i.e. as long as I keep my calories/macros in check I can keep growing.
