The concept of advanced life is a human construct. It comes from a stance of egotistical superiority and a desire to be important. We do have certain measures of being advanced, specifically a species’ ability to collect and efficiently use energy, but again, those are baseless measuring standards we made up.

Tardigrades, a biological microbe, can survive in many extreme environments (With respect to temperature, radiation, the vacuum of space, etc) and they populate every corner of the world over and over again. From an outside perspective, let’s say aliens visit earth, it wouldn’t be wrong for them to conclude this is one of the most advanced species on the planet.

I don’t think, outside of the human mind, and possibly some other primates, the universe acknowledges anything as an advanced species, or that that concept even exists.
