Any Precious Metals Experts Here? Specifically Silver.

Looking to buy some silver coins. Want to get something that is as close to spot as possible, but also widely known. Something like silver eagles. Any recommendations?

Some tarnish can be removed with one course of cleaning. Other tarnish can never be removed.

Always a markup on coins they cost more to make. If you want to buy silver close to spot you have to buy bars.

Not necessarily opposed to this idea. Are there any bars that are widely recognized? Similar to silver eagles.

Eagle will run u 25 bucks. Canadian maple will too. I got like 50 oz of silver stacked. Its not much but id rather own gold which is very pricey now. If u missed out when silver was like 5 bucks and gold was 500 then u missed the boat.

Gold got expensive fast. Silver has been lagging. That is kind of why I am going with silver. I might pick up a 1 oz gold coin anyways.

dont waste ur money dude. 2k for a gold coin. thats crazy. ur better off buying guns, ammo, food, water, other survivalist products like a generator, solar setup etc. u can buy so much useful gear. i was on the gold silver kick for a min. bought some 1800's American gold coins for a good price about 5 years ago. I just realize in a SHTF situation, aint nobody gonna take a gold coin for anything actually worthwhile. save ur money bro buy things that are useful.

Already have guns, ammo, food, water. Can't do anything energy wise since I rent. If I could sell ammo I would (cali) since I have so much already.

I like your thinking though and is why I am going with silver since it has the added appeal actually being usable versus gold. Still want some gold though lol.

I guess due to Covid Silver Eagles are going to be in low production for the remainder of 2020. Buy SE now, or just stick to cheapest silver per oz?

What I worry about is the people that will buy now, see silver go up $5, not sell and then it comes back down to ~$19.

That rush to $50 absolutely crushed a lot of people that didn't get out.

The sale earlier this year was insane and if you got in then you are safe, unlikely to see that price again, maybe ever.

I'm actually looking to sell some of my silver.

Agreed man. I actually bought SLV like a year or two after that $50 peak. Forget the exact date, but it kept going down until it eventually flattened out.

I never sold since I always wanted PM in my portfolio and now it is killing it. Funny thing was I always meant to stack physical silver, but instead just ended up doing more of SLV.

Question to you though is, with gold at all time high, what makes you think silver won't do the same?

Every time metals spike there is government intervention to bring prices down. We have room to run still but there is a limit.

$35 silver I can see but anything above that I am not so sure about. I can easily see ~19 again as well.

I have a lot of silver, far more $ value than the other 3 so I can sell some without issue.

I'll be passing on the gold to my kids, don't think I will ever sell any.

I want to sell all of my Palladium and Platinum as the end of the ICE will be the end of these metals being valuable.

No thx Jeff:

Edit:I was a pretty big silver bug for a time. I had kitco's spot on my phone and would constantly check it out. Rode it all the way up to $48. Sold all the way up, and got completely out after it crashed. Bought half my stack @$15 and sold half @$30.
Virtue is its own reward.

Silver is hard to buy and hard to sell. The buy price over spot is ridiculous right now, like near 25%.

You're likely going to lose money on silver unless it megapops.
