Opeth have made some of the best music ever (appreciation thread)

Regardless of genre. Come at me if you disagree. Should be mandatory to listen to. It changed my life
They have a diverse catalouge of music. A lot of heavy stuff and a lot of mellow stuff. They mostly make progressive music.

Neg me if you dont like this.

This thread is a test. If you don´t like some of the music posted, you´re not a musical person.

Opeth is one of those bands that you'd think I would really like, since I'm a big fan of progressive metal/rock and death metal. However, I've never really been able to get into them. I can appreciate their music but it just doesn't resonate with me. I think part of it is that I'm not a fan of acoustic guitars in metal. Also, I think I appreciate elements of their music when they're done separately and not all mixed into one.

I can see what you´re saying. I love acoustic guitar, espacially the way opeth does it. Listen to Benighted and face of melinda posted above tho. Those are just beautiful acoustic guitar

Opeth is one of my favorite bands. I started listening to them around Blackwater Park. Their new album is definitely their most eclectic, albeit most self-indulgent album. Really good music, though. While I miss the old death metal vibe, I really like progressive rock in general, so I enjoy the new stuff as well.

Good song. their latest stuff have been great, but I like the prog folk rock direction. It still sounds like Opeth in a way

As a teenager, my alarm clock CD player had Blackwater Park in it in an effort to get my lazy ass up out of bed. As soon as the clock would strike 6am or whatever it was, that first note of Leper Affinity would slowly kick in and then explode.

Opeth is a great and interesting band who have stood the test of time. They never sought to achieve mainstream stardom and have just made their own music.

Farewell is their best song imo
