How did AIDS kill Freddie Mercury so quickly?

He got diagnosed in 1987, and by 1991 he was dead, even though he had hundreds of millions
RIP Pedro Suarez Vertiz. Te queremos Hermano

Diagnosed in 87 doesn't mean hes only had it since then.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

He may have had it before 87.

Also treatment back then was probably trash as ****. Now a days cant you just live with HIV and have a very similar life expectancy?

Aids actually doesn't kill anyone. What it does is distracts your white blood cells while simple things like, the flu, Corona virus, very mild skin cancer, simple digestive problems, ect, kill you. Aids is really just a composition of symptoms. It's really strange and maybe I didn't explain it right but my paramedic teacher made it make sense.

Edit let me clarify. It prevents your body from fighting off things that normally wouldn't be a problem.

A diagnosis is not the point of infection.

That was normal for the time. He also started getting sick a few years earlier but AIDS was so new back then they didnt understand everything. The treatment these days has gotten so much better.

Eazy E is the one that is very suspicious and the rumor is he was injected. He was completely healthy then all of a sudden got sick, went in the hospital and dies from HIV complications very shortly after.

This - HIV is the virus slowly attacking cells that fight infection - AIDs is when the level of those cells is almost rock bottom.

They say now that with all the extra precautions you need to take living with AIDS/HIV, you could live longer than if you didn't have it at all, which to me is a huge testament to medical advancements we have made.

He likely had it before '87 and I researched this after I saw Bohemian Rhapsody. I think he probably caught it in '80 since a lot of the people he "hung out with" started to get sick and die from it. It can take almost 8-10 years for symptoms to start popping up, and with the first case really determined in '80ish, that could mean it was passing around in the '70's. You also need to realize that when this first came out, it was called GRID (gay-related immune deficiency), which explains how little we knew at the time what it was. Couple the fact of the lifestyle he lived being an international rock star, he probably picked up a bunch of bacteria/virus' that eventually ravaged his body. He most likely accelerated the disease faster than anyone. So assuming he caught the disease in '80, showed symptoms in 87', and then died in '91. Average life expectancy after diagnosis was around 15ish years on average, so couple that with his lifestyle, he was on borrowed time.
