Opinions on Raider of the Lost Arc viewed in 2020
One of my favorite movies. I grew up on this. I remember watching it with my grandparents (RIP). Showing it to my kids (something I always wanted to do), in 2020 made me notice a few things. Minority characters were either incompetent or untrustworthy, or both. I didn’t look for this, it was just blatantly obvious. Indy showing the ropes of a temple to a guy who was born and raised in that village? Preposterous. Still a favorite movie of mine (ingrained in my heart). Misc thought?

Nah to your criticism/observation.
This is probably my #1 favorite film of all time. It's got a special place in my heart from personal experience, and it's also as close to a perfect film as I've ever seen. Not one beat is out of place.
An example of how perfect it is, this chase scene, specifically at 1:55 when Indy rides down the hill...the music...perfection.

Raiders of The Lost Ark is a classic. Prime Spielberg. Prime George Lucas. Prime Lawrence Kasdan( Screenwriter of Raiders of the Lost Arc, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens)
The opening scene has been parodied over and over again.
Fantastic setup showing that he's a Uni professor that he loves archeology but he doesn't really believe in any of the spirtual or religious aspects. Yet his character grows throughout the movie.
All the fights and stuntwork are top notch. Rivals any action movie.
The romance between Indy and Marion. The first scene with them, you can tell there's some history between the two but they kind of hate each other. The romance blossoms over time.
There's this mystery about the Ark of the Covenant. It's talked about throughout the movie having this great power. Then we finally get to see it at the end.
It's also got beautiful cinematography:

Of course John Williams classic score:

Racism in the past was a real thing, I absolutely agree with you on that. However, raiders is a good natured film that creates unique and believable characters to tell its story, with no hint of racism. This sounds like a mind virus. I would suggest you take a break from social media and the news for a few days, then sit down and really enjoy the film once you’ve deprogrammed a bit.
Entire NYPD should go on strike. You'll see then how quickly the mayor changes his tone.

I’m confused... Brody is the dumb one (white) Sallah is smart. Shortround is also competent in temple of doom.
The untrustworthy ones in raiders and last crusade were both rich white dudes.....
Where is the racism you speak of?

TOP 15-20 movies of all time IMO, and thats saying something.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."
