Slow cooker users I have a question...

I'm making some chicken and vegetables, gonna cook on high for 4 hours.

The vegetables are gonna be carrots, asparagus, potatoes, onions and mushrooms.

Should I wait to add the mushrooms until maybe the last two hours?

I would think if I have the mushrooms in there the whole 4 hours they'll get mushy.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

I would say add them in the last hour, they don’t take long to cook at all.

I'd wait till the end. You're right, the mushrooms tend to get really soft. That happens to carrots and potatoes too if you cook too long.

I think I remember that also being the case if you're using canned beans.

I love slow cooker meals. Nothing like a nice hearty pot roast with carrots, potatoes, and rosemary on a cold winter night.

Agreed with waiting. Man I love mushrooms.

Depends how you like them. Part of their experience is the texture. Mushrooms don’t make desirable baby food.

I've always like them, then one day some miscer (can't remember who) was saying they're one of the best things to eat for putting on muscle, and otherwise healthy pursuits.

I started reading up on them and learned they're basically a super food type deal so I've been eating lots of them since.

One thing I started doing for example is I'll make turkey tacos and throw in a bunch of minced sauteed mushrooms at the end.

Trying to eat some spinach, mushrooms and onions every day if possible.

When i use my slow cooker with mushrooms i just throw them in at the start.
They are always going to be mushy/soft regardless of when you throw them in - and I want the max flavour to come out of the shrooms for something like e.g. Beef Stroganoff
Just my 2c.
With slow cookers you cant really stuff it up.

Have you ever read about cordyceps? I recommend doing some research on them.

I have always enjoyed mushrooms. But over the past 1.5 decades, I have become obsessed with them. No idea why lol. I actually started growing them about a year or so ago. It is a fun, but difficult hobby. It is pretty rewarding though.

I do also appreciate the nutritional value of spinach and onions as well. I’m just not obsessed with them.

Kinda hard to screw up mushrooms IMO. I don't find them easy to overcook. Even when they get soft, I've never experienced them as being "mushy". I think you would be fine either way. But if you're overly worried about it, just throw them in half way through the cooking cycle.

Bruh I made chili the other day that I'm just about to finish off today (gonna bake some sweet potato fries and top with chili).

Then one day I got some hot dogs from place down the street and made some chili dogs.

I just barely got slow cooker and it's one of those things I don't know how I got along without for all this time.

Get an instant pot, chit is glorious.

But yeah, the mushrooms should have some bite to them.
