Anyone practice Stoicism?

I have a pal who awared me on this ideology.
It basically boils down to: Good and bad things will happen in life, you should expect them, so when they happen, you will not react because ultimately you will be OK.

'Why weep at parts of life, when all of it calls for tears'.

IMO it seems like committing emotional suicide. Thoughts?

99.9% of people who claim they are “stoics” or practice “stoicism” have literally no clue what it is and entails.

There's an app called The Stoic which has daily quotations from important thinkers. Check it out.

I like a lot of what Marcus Aurelius had to say.
