Plenty of sloots had fat asses back in the day. The style of clothing just didn't extenuate it as much.

This. I noticed more fatties starting in about 2004, and then more again in 2012 or so.

And also in the 90's the women with fat asses ones weren't parading around in front of a camera lens, so we seen far less of what was out there then. This became more of a thing that came along with social media.

Silicone butt implants are used pretty often still, you'd be surprised. It is kinda hard to really point them out if the girl is thicker and clothed.

Idk about your question, but been recently at the beach and all I've seen women do there is take ass selfies. Hell one group that walked by multiple times, that was the scope of their convo, about their ass and thighs. And also glued on to their phones.
