Why do Uber drivers always say oh I only do this part time for fun

Why are they so ashamed to say they do it full time and it means a lot to them?

Due to the nature of when they are busy/when they are dead its mostly a part time gig. Also its really not 'that' profitable. If they say they are doing it for fun they are just coping/ashamed they need a side hustle for extra money.

I do know a guy that was going through a divorce and liked to drive at night to clear his head so he ubered for awhile. He did the math and he was only making a few dollars per hour on average. Drove a gas guzzling SUV... Again this guy was actually doing it to drive and to chat with/socialize with people instead of sitting alone in a crappy apartment.

I mean I did it part time for fun lol. It's interesting talking to different people while making some money at the same time. Especially if your main job is a desk job it's quite a refreshing change. Not everybody who does rideshare is locked in it for 60 hours a week.

I would never do uber as a part time job. Not because id be ashamed but the fear of getting robbed while just doing your job. I don't ever make fun of people who work I make fun of people who don't work. aka little ****s who live off of mommy and daddy.

It's cope.

Everyone is such a sensitive pussy in 2020 that they're too embarrassed to say they're a taxi driver, a needed respectable profession around cities.

I did Lyft for about a year before covid. Only did it on Friday and Saturday nights. Sometimes it was fun when you have cool passengers. Most of the time it was just work that I did part time. Kinda miss it sometimes but covid and I have another job now
