Just collected my last weekly $1150 unemployment check.

RIP $1150 checks. The extra 600 bucks for unemployment ends in a few days . Now I'll be collecting only $550 per week. Semi good news though, next stimulus bill they're planning on adding $200 to weekly unemployment benefits. $750 a week doesn't sound too bad on top of our next $1200 stimulus checks.

I work at the Hyatt as a server and a local hotel as a groundskeeper. In Hawaii all hotels are closed due to a 14 day qaurantine travel restriction our governor has implemented since May. It pretty much killed tourism here. September 1st is Hawaii's new "opening date."

The Feds should never have given that extra $600 a week. Just pay the people 100% full pay instead.

No jobs available unless you want to work at McDonald's or Safeway. I'd rather collect unemployment than make less money as an "essential worker."

Depends on state and tax rate IIRC

Its based on wage and maxes out at around $650 for this state. I'm not to sure how they calculate it. I was making over 85k a year before I got layed off.

I would like to chime in that not everybody is getting that much from their state. In my case, I'm getting ~$130ish from the state.
So far, the only lead I've gotten from job boards is some position in Phoenix, AZ (I live in OH), and the usual scam "financial services rep" that are commission and you have to find your own clients.

I've applied to some stuff that I'm overqualified for and we'll see what happens. It's rough out there, shoulda been a union electrician or something I guess since construction seems to be continuing at full steam ahead

The extra $600 should have never went to every person filing, it should have been based on your pay scale.

I've worked and paid taxes since my 15th bday then a few years back I lost a job over some BS that happened 5 years prior that some scumbag ratted me out over. Filed for unemployment and got denied. Ever since then I've hated the state and unemployment all together. Fuking pathetic that they don't help actually good workers when they are in trouble. I cashed out one of my old 401Ks and made it work. Now make 3x as much as I did then so it was a blessing in disguise but FUK IL & Unemployment *******s. Pathetic system

Do you know a gallon of milk over here costs $6? Did you know a gallon of OJ costs $10. The median price for a house here is 700k. We need every penny we can get here.

On reddit they were complaining about the removal of eviction moratoriums and how millions were going to be homeless now that the $2400/month handout expires. How can someone be homeless when they made that kind of money?

Wait a minute, so unemployed people make over $4000 untaxed per month?!?!

That's more than what the $15 an hour burger flippers make. Must be nice to sit on your azz doing nothing and get paid that much.

But it can't be done that way due to the way the system is structured. Our unemployment system wasn't designed for a pay scale unless a substantial overhaul was made at the state level, so a flat payment needed to be added.

The unemployed should be getting over $1000 a week in unemployment, its fair.

Because when it dries up and they need to find a job they're fukked.

These shut downs are the best thing to happen to so many people. Getting overpaid to stay home all day.
