Can natties tear biceps? (Srs)

Srs, never really see it in natties. Although I do know of someone who tore their bicep outside of lifting and they’re probably natural (not sure though)

Yes plenty of natties tear their bicep when deadlifting with a mix grip that why I always use double overhand grip when deadlifting because I don't want to risk tearing my bicep so it's better to just leave your ego out the door

I don't think you can tear a bicep doing 240lb mate so you should be fine

very easily, your bicep tendons are pathetically weak in comparison to how strong the muscle can get. Basically the opposite of your lat that was built to survive damn near any stupidity you throw at it

Double overhand deadlifts are a grip exercise not a posterior chain exercise

But why would you want to have a weak posterior chain when you can train grip separately?

It’s pretty rare I see someone whose deadlift is limited by their grip. If someone deadlifts with straps, I wouldn’t assume they couldn’t pull it mixed

You or I will never have to worry about bicep tears lol.

Maybe if you are pulling 700lbs or 4x bw ??

If you are that worried; use straps or better yet..

.. Learn hook grip.

it’s uncommon but it can happen if you’re a very strong natural. main reason gear abusers tear their connective tissues so often, is due to the speed they gain strength.

bicep tears are the most common strongman injury. you can tear your bicep double overhand too

Who says I don’t pull 700lbs?

Hint: I don’t

I keep switching between mixed, hook, and straps

This. I once got what I think were some sort of mini partial tears in my upper biceps close to where they meet the shoulders from being too stenuous on them when lifting. Both arms hurt like hell in that area just from lifting them up to reach for something for like 6 months afterwards before they finally just healed on their own. Can't imagine how much it would suck to actually blow out a bicep completely by doing mixed grip deadlifting slightly wrong or something.

Trap bar deadlifting is so much more superior to any straight bar deadlifting in terms of ergonomics and practicality. I honestly have no idea why anyone ever opts for straight bar deadlifting if they can choose to use the trap bar unless they are literally training to compete in deadlifting powerlifting comps.

Tearing a bicep with double overhand, not sure if srs. Although I’ve seen it with axle bar deadlifts (double overhand)

Must have been on a chitload of gear....tearing a bicep on 25lb db curls, not even once.

I’ve seen it happen loads of times on preacher curls though.

Would much rather a proximal bicep tear than a distal. Chit sounds like every lifter’s worst nightmare

I have thought about getting a trap bar but I don’t know how you’d fit enough weight on it

I never liked using straps. The set up always messes me up and feels wrong. Have to kneel to wrap the things around the bar and then stand up and attempt to get my stance but I'm attached to the damn bar....

Why? Seems pretty doable if you grease the groove and spread it out through the day. Although I weigh over 200 pounds so it might be harder for me.

I find setting up with straps fine. What I don’t like about them is they feel like I’m cheating, they don’t train grip, and they don’t give me the bloody hand callouses I crave. Chicks dig guys with messed up hands

I’ve mixed grip 500lbs+ for reps. couldn’t give two ****s. I have a 700lb mixed grip puller in my gym

if you tear a bicep isn’t not gonna end your lifting career. Larry wheels tore his completely and has surpassed all his previous lifts. I know several naturals who’ve torn theirs powerlifting and still surpassed

Found this sentiment by Martin Berkhan....guy deadlifts 600+ for reps and started the whole Leangains/IF thing (which is where Kinobody got his material from...basically copied Leangains and removed squats and deadlifts). He backs up my theory that bicep tears seem to happen predominantly to enhanced athletes....any thoughts on this?

Yes, its not that hard. Tore mine right off moving a UTV. Know a guy that tore his reaching for Christmas lights and another complete tear snapping skiing boots on. All Distal tears and all lifters. Personally i think its a perfect combo of tension and horizontal movement that will tear that fugger off easily. Its no joke either, i was in a sling for 4 months, rehab for 6. Started training again when rehab was done.

My dad did twice at 60+, but for young people in the gym it's a somewhat reliable indicator of non-natty status. Quad tears too.
They got little baby legs that stand so low
