Hammer Strength Incline Press instead of bench

I tried this last week for the first time and I felt I got a much better workout instead of usually doing bench

Me too.

I second any converging lever/machine press if you aren’t competing in powerlifting.

It's a good exercise. That + dumbells + decline/wide press machines have you covered for chest

For hypertrophy/bodybuilding purposes .....yes

Hammer strength plate loaded machines are some of the most satisfying exercises that exist

It has its purpose, but becomes limiting.

I only use it with cluster sets.

You would get worse at barbell benching. Your overall total pressing strength might decline slightly.

Your chest mass would stay the same or hypertrophy if you continued to apply progressive overload.

I think I'll stick with hammer strength incline press then cuz I only care about getting bigger I could care less about how much I bench

Op a lot of people prefer them and honestly if you can get a better workout, better pump, and reduce injury, I'd say go for it

I was just hesitant to change from bench to hammers strength incline press cuz a lot of things I have read talk about how machines are chit and how free weights are so much better cuz of your stabilizers

Fair enough keep hammer pressing then, would also suggest the hammer strength lat pulldown/row hybrid if you're of that mindsight, also great for hypertrophy.

I mean it may be partially true but as brah above said if you care about your actually incline numbers then it may be a problem. Just remember to reduce injury

Yup. I never incline barbell anymore. I switch between hammer press incline for cluster sets, and dumbbell work for incline. Shoulders are way healthier at this point.

For getting bigger pecs, go with the hammer strength. Gets that better squeeze. DB benchpress is also a better chest builder than barbell bench.

Barbell benchpress is by far a better exercise for shoulders and triceps than chest.
You would be surprised just how much time I have to waste.

I'm someone who largely focuses on the bread and butter lifts but still, big fan of hammer strength machines.

I genuinely believe someone could reach a competitive level at bodybuilding (not weight lifting obviously) just using their plate loaded machines, by far the best on the market.

It's a great machine. It's also a good one to mix in some bands with it, they work very well with this one.

You wouldn't be able to bench press as much weight over time. There are a lot of great bodybuilders that don't do barbell bench press. Its not a necessary movement.

That's a common argument over free weights VS machines but if your not an athlete or a power-lifter I'd question what do you actually 'lose' when switching over. You'll still be stronger then the majority of the population. You'll still have a stronger bench press then the majority of the population. Your less likely to get injured and you'll save your joints from unnecessary wear. Etc.

When it comes to raw strenth/power/athleticism its hard to argue against free weights. But if you know the basic movements. Have some muscle. And continue to progressively overload on machines and cables. You can still make great gains with much less wear and tear on your body and risk of injury.

Good accessory but not to replace bench, I prefer incline anyways but bench recruits more muscles. I just don't see the point in going all machine/cable unless you already have an incredible physique and are just maintaining.

Less chance of injury and bench has never really done anything for me
