Is simulation theory an easy way out from many philosophic questions?

Like what am I? Where am I going? What is my purpose.

Religions already deliver easy answers to such questions with a simple reply "God". Not really a practical reply and hardly solves anything.

I have been wondering, is the simulation arguement any different from religions?

Not quite, but it's similar. Simulation theory doesn't claim to be true, it just claims to be an option as long as the suppositions its put forward are agreed to be true, like most philosophy.

It's only some people on the internet who treat it like a religion and an absolute truth, most intellectuals, scientists, philosophers etc treat it as nothing more than a potential option.

this guy talks about simulation theory in places, i cant find which video. this is you right now though and most atheists. cant believe in God until everything is laid out, or omniscience

Couldn't you tell it is a good starting point at least? I doubt any of it's alternatives could provide any good solutions to similar questions

The simulation theory never made sense to me. At the smallest level we know of, the universe favors randomness. So is the simulation just bringing logic to what is actually chaos?

It’s not supposed to explain randomness, it’s mainly based on the possibility that if we ever figure out how to create a simulation, we would likely run many simulations. The odds that we were the real world, and not one of the simulations, are not in our favor.

Also, the idea that a simulation would have boundaries to keep us contained within the simulation without us seeing them as boundaries of the simulation (ie, the speed of light might be one such boundary).
