What's next in the storyline?

What do you guys think the script writers are bringing in the next act? With the constant negativity and threat of big bad things happening, but never actually materializing, the population has become desensitized to a bunch of stuff. So if they want to keep our attention, what do you think they're gonna do? Or do you think it'll just continue to be death by a thousand cuts, so everyone just stays angry and demoralized, so the elites can live their parallel life next to us but not WITH us.

The ticks on the reanimated wooly mammoth are going to cause the next black plague. Only hope is an alien starship and something to do with mashed potatoes and a rock in Wyoming.
