Why invest so much in military?

What does it make someone? A glorified future killer? Or what will a country do? Invade, fight, kill, destroy homes and buildings, half of the time they lose wars. Really its all nothing. I hope for a military free world someday.

The problem with liberals like you is you're so short sighted you can't see the big picture. Most of the jobs in the military aren't combat related. Someone could join the military, and learn a skill like IT, HVAC, electrician, etc. and they will get paid for it while they're in training. There's nothing like that in the private sector. If you go to school for a trade, you will have to pay for it out of your own pocket, and then how are you going to pay your bills? The military is the only place where you can earn a full time income while learning a trade/skill.

Well in the case of US the military is needed to enforce oil producing nations in using the Petrodollar which keeps our economy propped up and allows the US to endlessly borrow money from other countries with no intention to pay it back.

I also hope for a military free world.

I accept that it won’t happen, for many reasons.

It isn’t by any means an evil “killer” producer or anything. That is a gross misrepresentation. In many aspects it is great for countries to have.

However, you are correct in the primary intention of a military being killing people and destroying things. For that reason, I wish it was unnecessary. But it isn’t.

Showing the world that you have advanced weaponry and capability is probably the greatest deterrent to war. Look at the Cold War for example and the theory of MAD. You don't attack someone who could destroy you, so therefore you behave.

It's an entire industry. I drove by Lockheed's multi-billion dollar facility the other day. Hole-e-fukk finally found out where all our taxes are going. Also interviewed at Raytheon finance years ago, same deal. The entire purpose of the spending 10x the next highest spender is to redistribute tax money to the military industrial complex.

China could destroy the entire US in 2 weeks if all they did was close the ports. That would be it for us. They could also use bioweapons or EMP the chit out of our power grid as Plan B. They give absolutely zero fukks about a bunch of aircraft carriers loaded with tactically useless F35's.

Peace through superior firepower. You know why the US hasn't been attacked by another military since WWII? All this crap talked by China and Iran, ect, The reason they don't attack us isn't because they are peaceful or out of the goodness of their hearts. They don't attack us because they know it will go very badly for them. If they thought they could win, they would.

So, it's not about how we can afford it, but how we can't afford it.

There is a return investment with the technology that comes from it, plus the training of people. The only problem I have with our military spending is the defense of other nations, such as Europe.

Fighting a "conventional war" in this century would be like the guys who showed up with muskets for WWI and got ventilated by machine guns last century.

All future wars between super powers will be fought using economics without firing a single bullet or missile. We can no longer survive without complex international supply chains and 24/7 just in time access to resources. China started a couple decades ago. No need for nukes when you can bankrupt your enemy and buy up all their property at a garage sale.

OK so make a job corps and remove it from the military. There is a great danger in building a powerful weapon because there is a temptation to use it. The US military is seen as a tool for "solutions" to diplomatic problems. Too many politicians who never served a second in battle use phrases like "military solution" while dressed in their $5000 suits, sitting around fancy tables eating $300 dinners, and they send young men to die. It's disgusting. These people should be beheaded and fed to dogs, torn to shreds the way they carelessly discard other lives. They are roaches. These types of insects are the enemies of mankind. It is not a single nation. You find these men in the backrooms of every government, whispering in peoples' ears, compelling them to destroy peace. Men like John Bolton. These men are the scum of this world.

Interesting, try living in one of the countries without a military or with a very weak one and few alliances; see how that works out for you and how cucked they get. It's easy to speak of and have noble ideals, it's much harder to do work on the ground towards it.

many countries have very small armies and have not been invaded. The US military is lying to you that you need a big army.

The reason why the us have such a big military is 1. its all stolen resources so they dont care, 2. its to protect the stolen resources, just in case.

not american, not even white, don't care about their evil country but numbers have nothing to with it when the soldiers are not made for war, chinese are very soft beta people in general and that's not a trait you want in combat personnel, there's a reason why historically you always lost so many wars and got enslaved so easily despite huge numerical superiority

shut the ports down for what? all the us imports from china is consumer goods, are americans gonna die if they don't get this stuff? meanwhile china has zero domestic oil sufficiency, can't feed their own population, import complex heavy machinery, they will rekt themselves if they try it, there's a reason china keeps buying us treasuries despite the ongoing tensions
