Train and run consistently until you can run 26 miles. Like weightlifting. You lift weight, you get stronger, you lift heavier weight.

Not that amazing, humans are naturally better at long distance running than anything else. That said, phuck doing a marathon, I can't understand how so many people love training for and running them. Takes all kinds I suppose.
