Only? Should be ****ing zero

Remove these benefits and all these riots will stop when people gotta work
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Maybe if he did a better job at enforcing a smooth gradual opening, then we wouldnt need this extension and waste another trillion dollars.

We need to remove unemployment pay completely.

If you want some socialist hand holdy training or whatever to get people into jobs, fine. But we need to stop paying people for not working.

Aint this the truth.

There are jobs everywhere but people don't want to work, it's much easier to stay home and collect a check than go to work and make less than your neighbor who's sitting at home.

As long as they are forcing people to be unable to go to work theyll need some form of extended payment. Have already been living at less than half of my income since this virus started.

But who isn't able to go to work at this point? Vast majority of the states are open to limited degree.

The only industry I can really think that is shut down are bars/clubs...and events to an extent

Uh, the virus was already here by the time flights were banned..it was already in other countries that were allowed in here. Banning flights from china may have helped some but its kinda pointless if chinese people could just catch a flight to another country and then come here....it was more symbolic than anything

Lol hell no they're not..I read that they arent requiring proof of applications or proof of job offers. People arent going to apply when they can make just as much, if not MORE money to sit home than have to go to work.

"Only $400" in addition to what the state gives for unemployment = a lot of people are still making more on the dole than they would at work.

Not at all, but the general payments are pretty crappy. if we just got the state unemployment which is like 90-400 a week depending on hours people who were actually making good money would be fuked. the 600 changes the game.

also its in Trump's best interest to not let the stupid greedy GOP fuk over people. Or let the dems dangle a carrot to the people to get Trump's supporters to hate him

you might be able to get PUA, say you were a student or some sht or had a job lined up, but covid came and ruined it, etc. our bloated bureaucracy is still dumb and wont fact check you so long as you arent currently employed.

Majority of the states are opened up for the most part so wtf are you even talking about?

The jobs that are effectively closed are bars and movie theatres in most of the country.

A good half of employed americans and the ones who work the most are almost criminally underpaid.

You could issue a minimum wage increase in every state just by 10-20% and it would help people massively.

Government issuing this soft UBI is making people wake the fuk up at the system. Trump playing socialist is his best bet against Biden because if he listens to the corporate welfare GOP goons Biden could make just a slight move to the left and Trump will have nothing to offer people in november

Depends a LOT on the state. CA is the largest state in the country. Retail mostly closed. All dine-in and bars closed. Anything to do with indoor recreation closed. NJ largely the same. So is Washington and Oregon. Illinois too last I checked

IDK, seems more dependent on counties but most of the sectors are not fully closed, like Bars/movies. Mostly everything is opened to at least some capacity.

California:
Open
Retail
Food and drink Outdoor dining
Personal care Pet groomers; Hair salons and barbershops in some counties; Nail salons, cosmetology services, tattoo parlors, piercing shops in some counties; Hair salons and barbershops for outdoor service in most counties
Houses of worship Houses of worship in some counties
Entertainment Casinos in some areas; Zoos in some counties
Outdoor and recreation Gyms in some counties
Industries Manufacturing; Warehouses; Offices in some counties; Movie, TV and music production
Closed
Food and drink Bars
Entertainment Movie theaters; Museums, galleries, and aquariums; Arcades and bowling alleys

What state is that for? In CA right now, 100% closed are:

Bars
Indoor dining
Barber shops
Nail salons
Malls
Indoor recreation (bowling, etc)
Churches
Tattoo parlors
Gyms
Etc

Mind you these things may be able to open outdoors (lol) but that's literally impossible for most of them.

The problem is a lot of these people are getting more money sitting at home than if they were working. They're making more than me and I work 40 hours a week.

Yes, but if these people were retail and working at restaurants, there's no way they were bringing home that much money a week. There needs to be a way that they're not being overpaid to sit at home.

I agree that they need to be taken care of given the shut down, but they just shouldn't be handed hundreds more than what they made when working.

Why don't you just get laid off then?

Paying people to sit at home and not work is stupid. But going out and working a chit job making less money than if you didn't work? Bruh....

Because my company hasn't laid anyone off since we have the ability to work from home and the people they need in the office for specific reasons are distanced since the majority are at home.

Also, I'd make much less on regular unemployment. I'm not talking about normal unemployment. I'm talking about people being handed $400. to $600 more on top of it to sit at home. The people working in restaurants and retail don't even work 40 hours normally, so they're sitting at home being handed hundreds more than they would have made in a normal work week. I don't see how that's right or fair.
