100 days corona free, then 4 people (in the same household mind you) test positive and BRB, Panicels activated......they shut the entire country again. What kind of reaction is this lmao? CDC estimates fatality rate @ 0.65% mostly geriatrics (revised up from 0.26%). WTF is going in the world? Is this mass hysteria or something else? How can people be so stupid? Throw away your freedom for a disease with a fatality rate less than 1%.......?

They weren't corona-free for 100 days, they had gone 102 days without community transmission. In reality, they're trying to be forward-looking and to crush any spread before it becomes a bigger problem requiring an even worse, more prolonged lockdown. Community transmission from an unknown source suggests wider spread than 4 identified cases.


That being said, lets keep our facts straight here: the lockdown started today and ends on Friday, a whopping 3 days long

And they didn't shut down the country, they moved the city of Auckland into "Level 3 restrictions" for 3 days while they identify more new cases (which they expect), investigate, and trace contacts etc. Trynna blow this out of proportion won't help anything

The article I read said that the rest of the country outside of Auckland is in Level 2 lockdown and Auckland is in Level 3 lockdown. So the rest of the country is locked down as well, just less strongly.
