Lost my job today

Gotta love the Rona
Company i was at is experiencing downturn of work due to stage 4 restrictions in Victoria, AUS.

First time iv'e ever been laid off in my life, i have been employed full time since 2013 as a Civil Drainage Plumber.
I was only at this company for 2.5 months and it was easier to get rid of me since i was still on trial.

Damn boyos this sucks..

Don't worry mate

Judging by the rate of how things are going, Sydney going to be on a straight lockdown. They're already refusing me at clubs and pubs because of my association to it

Just rest and relax for now because this isn't going away anytime soon

What kind of unemployment support are the government offering down under during the rona?

Sucks but you're kind of lucky OP srs. Lots of people are put on hold in their jobs, and will likely be in that state for a year or more. The people, the employer and the business is dead and might never come back to the previous state, yet they are wasting their time waiting on nothing.

At least you know you can move on in life instead

Sorry to hear that, OP. That's rough. I know lots of people that have similarly been affected.

Hopefully you'll get some kind of unemployment benefit. I don't know how it works in Australia, but people here have been collecting some money.

Try and use this time to do something productive. My workload was also slashed back in March. Luckily I was able to transition to working at home immediately, but with more free gaps during my days.

I'm really sorry to hear that. That does suck, and especially being in that weird trial period. Chin up and get after it, I'm confident you'll find something else soon. Best of luck.
