Is 2$ / pound fair for new barbell plates?

There's a guy in FB marketplace that has a whole shipment of new 45lb plates, 2$ a pound. I need a new pair soon, so 180 dollars.

They look like these:

Fair price? Too high or too good to be true in this market?
Best lifts:
Bench press: 315x5
Squat: 465x1
Strict press: 205x5
Deadlift: 405x13 (conv tap'n'go with straps)

Seems good enough for me specially with the shortages

In a few years each 45 will be worth $1000 srs
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Lol fuk no.

The highest I would ever pay is 1$ a pound. Usually I would buy plates for$0.75-.8 per lb.

Dude is just taking advantage of the market like a prick and gouging

Pre pandemic 80c per pound is about what I paid too. Boy I wish things would go back.

So are you saying I can find plates for 80c per pound?

You won’t but you can find close to a buck if you’re patient and looking all day. I see pairs of 45’s going for $100 sometimes but you gotta be quick.

I can be patient for a little bit, but I'm going to need some more plates pretty soon cause my deadlift will hopefully progress past my available plates.

And part of the problem is all my 45lb plates are all slightly diameters, only one pair of mine is the actual 17.2 inch diameter. So when I'm resting 500lbs on the floor, all that weight is resting on only 2 plates, not 5. So I'm worried about busting up my floor or cracking plates or my barbell sleeves.

So I'm kind of picky about the plates. I notice there's a lot of the dicks sporting goods plates (fitness gear) on the market, but those are 15 inches so those are out.

Probably the best deal you’re gonna get right now. I spent a lot more than 2lb, but I also got competition bumpers.

The market is still screwed so if you need them now or in the next month or two might as well just get em. I sold my fitness gear plates for $1.5lb when I upgraded and the guy instantly put em on the market for 2.75lb and they sold quick.
