Bad chitty people have bad chitty dogs

Was going for my morning run and this dog came running up behind me snapping at me and bit the back of my leg.

Yelled and screamed and kicked at it and it backed off. Owners came out of their house and grabbed it and didn't even have the decency to apologise or ask if I'm ok.

Ran straight home and rang dog control.

By the time I got back from the doctors (nothing too serious, just some antibiotics to make sure I don't get infection) dog control were already there.

Owners admitted dog had bitten me (bit hard to deny it when there were independent witnesses too) but claiming that dog has run away and they don't know where. More likely they took it to a friend's place to make sure it doesn't get taken to pound and put down.

Even if they're telling the truth it's pretty chit. If you see your dog take a bite out of someone's leg you shouldn't just let it loose into the neighborhood again.

Could've just as easily been a kid walking past who got bitten. Chit people.

Dogs are like children is that the apples don't fall far from the tree. Chitty kids usually come from chitty parents.

Yep agree

Dogs don't run round attacking people if they've been raised right

More like if they've spent their lives chained up and getting yelled at

This is one of my fears.. running and getting attacked by a dog. i have some safe routes where i never encounter dogs + i live in a great neighborhood so yea but that sucks. Last time i got bit i had to take antibiotics and couldnt lift cause the bite was too deep and weights would aggravate the wound. My suggestion is to find a solid route around 2.5k and run back and fourth (for longer runs)

Dogs are nothing like children. They are wild animals that needs to be treated a certain way. Otherwise you'll get all kinds of psychological problems from the pet.

Unfortunately they live at end of my street so can't avoid completely, but will definitely stay on other side of the road from now on.

That sucks not being able to lift. Doctor said I should be fine (mine wasn't that deep).

Makes me a bit nervous though. Never even occured to me before that a dog might attack me on the footpath!

A lot of people don't understand dog psychology or fit to be owners.

That said, swift recovery.
