worth it, I dont even have a fryer. cooked it on the stove. get some Drake's frying mix or equivelant, mix the dry mix with water to make the batter. heat some peanut oil or high smoke point oil about 1/2''-3/4'' high in a sauce pan and that's pretty much all there is to it.

tartar sauce (my version since I didn't have relish on hand) was hellmann's mayo (has a tartar flavor to it on its own), old bay seasoning, 2 cloves garlic, red onion, lemon juice
