I'd be interested in this as well. I would love to hear alternatives to the cloud services tho. My town/neighborhood is pretty low crime so I've never worried about it. But there's a big university in my town and just wondering if they're coming back with a fresh liberal indoctrination. Might tend to think a good alternative is a well-placed handful of trail-cams.

Good community awareness through posts as well. Crime reports, etc.

Got my parents a ring door bell. Pretty dope. You don't even have to use it on your doorbell, you can set it up anywhere you want.
Also comes with an app that has a message board on it. People from the neighborhood can post on there. Just in case your'e wondering if there have been any breaks ins close by, or you hear some gun shots at like 3am usually other people are talking about it and giving some answers.

Are you building a new home , if so this would be a good time to have wires ran for door reeds etc, instead of having to go wireless

Ring is cool if you're away from home, but it's no good for real-time security.
The motion detection may not catch a person's face if they move fast enough (like an amazon package thief). It also takes like 30 seconds for any motion detection video to show in your feed. Getting a real cctv system+recording+floodlights+great locks would be best.

Wired, PoE cameras with a dedicated drive for storage. Wireless cameras are inferior in every way unfortunately.

Ring. its pretty much plug and play, has good mobile phone integration, lots of options in terms of security (muiltiple cheap cameras, window/door alarms that can individually be set to alert, notify or off etc).
