The main reason I could never become a vet

I love animals and it would be great to help make them better, but I couldn't deal with people who put their dogs (etc) down out of convenience for themselves. I'm not talking about an expensive surgery that they can't afford, but just something that is purely inconvenient for the owner. How do people do that?
