Horrible logic and advice, as much as i respect nas as a individual

Prob whats wrong with the youth today.

It's fine if rap is just plain entertainment

but rap doesn't quite translate to real world results in getting consistently happy. High's come and go. But with the rise, there's the fall. If you can accept that, great. If you don't know what you're doing, it could majorly disappoint you and the people around you

Only a guess, but probably was just a present day reflection (at the time) of being in public housing and not seeing a way out. Probably easy to be depressed when you're in a chit environment and no one around you is doing anything uplifting either. Surely it wasn't an outlook on life in general, since he was someone who "made it."

But good points all around. I think many people have times where they are in the "phuck it all" phase but it's not good to stay there.
