People in the trades make great money if you master your craft. I have several friends in trades like hvac repair, plumbing, electrical and they make six figures. A close friend does pest control and is a millionaire.

What you do doesn't really matter.. as long as you have passion for it.

I know plenty of programmers who make great money but hate doing it. They are all subpar programmers because of it.

The future of programming is looking a bit grim. It's a lot of work and you have all these people in other countries that studied it because it pays well. Now you have a massive work force of programmers so if this "work from home" thing really takes off no one is going to be hiring western programmers anymore.
