Will any theatres survive the lockdowns?

I still enjoyed going to the movies overpriced as they were. Is is time to just fully invest in home theatre?

Doubt it. Streaming services have been taking over for a long time. This was just the final nail in the coffin for theaters

Not sure how busy they are, but theatres opened up in my area a month ago with COVID-19 measures in place

theyre struggling. here they offered 25 cent tickets and for $50 you can rent out whole theater for like a birthday party or w/e you want.

AMC isnt wiping down the seats after each movie so no one is going to them

that movie that is animated with singing. like trolls or something. it did crazy numbers just by being on demand.

Disney+ is doing Mulan for $30 and people act like its a good deal

now 2 years down the line say covid is nothing but like the cold and no more panicels. then ya theaters will make a come back. if they can survive this

Built my theatre 8 years ago. I've probably seen just as many movies in the theatre, but I'm a bit of a junkie. I like the full theatre experience as well for comedies or epic type movies shot in IMAX.

Same here I watch way too many movies. Last full experience in IMAX that can't be replicated was Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Say what you will about the storyline but certain films in IMAX are just awe inspiring.

AMC/Loews are likely on their way out, but they were a cancer anyway. Good indie theaters in big cities will survive off donations/grants/membership fees. When a vaccine is out, you'll likely see some new companies out there.

I have a pretty high quality projector/sound system set up in my living room. It's more affordable than you'd think.

Nothing is a substitute for the full theatre experience when it comes to movies you REALLY want to see IMO. Even if you have a dope actual theatre room in your house, watching movies you’re excited about is almost something of a social experience

I’ll only do VIP theatres tho

i saw predictions that they're just gonna get creative

like offer movie theaters + restaurants. or that like 4d full experience which has mist, shaking chairs and chit, etc.

Theaters here in the midwest come standard with a bar, restaurant, some are full-service to your seat (good food, very reasonably priced), no phones allowed or they kick you out. IDK about the 4D experience yet...not sure I'm interested in that, definitely wouldn't pay more for it.
